So I'll be hosting a viewing party for friends in about a month and need some recommendations on slashers that are good for a party atmosphere. We do these viewings about once a month and the most successful films follow a pretty simple formula: something violent, sexy, or outrageous should happen at once every 5-10 minutes. Laughable dialogue and homoerotic situations are always a big hit. I feel a perfect example of what we're going for is Sleepaway Camp 2.

With that in mind, I'd love to hear all your suggestions.

It may seem obvious but Slumber Party Massacre comes to mind. Less obvious, but no less campy and plenty homoerotic-Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge. Also, The Initiation has always been a favorite, it's on dvd as a double bill with Moutaintop Motel Massacre which ain't great but does entertain in a campy sorta way. Lots of eighties stereotypes in there.
Perhaps Motel Hell as well. Can't go wrong with Wolfman Jack!!
The Mutilator also comes to mind since many here seem to love it, however I found it boring as heck so no recommendation from me on that one.

How about The Tripper? That should keep folks entertained.

Wrong Turn 4 also was surprisingly good for me.
For a great parody of the backwoods slasher genre: Tucker and Dale vs. Evil.

Killer Party will give them plenty to laugh about for 90 cheesy minutes.

It's not a true slasher film. But Bronson's 10 to Midnight usually gets big laughs here. Naked killer...check. Hilarious obscene phone calls...check. Police interrogation featuring a cameo by a latex vagina...check. Charles Bronson "bending" the law in pursuit of justice...check. It's a real crowd pleaser.

Hide and go Shriek has some strongly implied homosexual panic, but it is not as delightfully gay as Freddy's Revenge.

Killer Workout/Aerobicide is also a hoot. Plenty of ridiculous aerobics, a pair of disfigured boobs, fabulous 80's music, dodgy acting, and at least one actor randomly showing up for an aerobics session after his character is killed off - talk about being committed to your health!

Pieces, Bloody Moon and The House on Sorority Row (if just for Morgan's delivery of "How do we know she is still alive?")

    Great suggestions, guys.

Aerobicide looks like a surefire winner. That one is definitely going on the list.

We're also looking for a good cheesy giallo.

I love "party slashers" so I decided to buy The Initiation after reading you recommendation. It's the Midnight Madness release so I hope the transfer is good :nervous:
I've seen this recently and loved it. I want to buy the dvd but I'm not spending nearly $20 for a dvdr. Wtf is that all about?
By the sounds of it I'm definitely going to have to by this one too. It doesn't sound like I could go wrong.

I second the recommendation for Ten To Midnight, despite its seemingly absurd premise it's actually a very gripping and well executed film.

Pieces - Bastards! Bastards! This is a must!

Beyond the Darkness - Strange cheesy slasher with great gore about a guy who likes to have sex over his dead wives stuffed corpse.

Blood Sisters - Pure cheese about a group of sorority girls staying in a haunted whore house.

Madman - A lot of weird and awkward moments with the highlight being the strange dance in the hot tub.

House by the Cemetery - Not sure if this counts as a slasher but Bob's bad dub is worth the price of admission alone.

April Fool's Day - Fun cast and a great surprise ending.

Dolls - Killer dolls are always funny.

Final Exam - Kind of boring but lots of so bad it's good moments.

Hatchet - Great gore and pretty funny. Moves at a good pace.

Sleepaway Camp 3 - Sleepaway Camp 2was the funny movie that I thought of, but apparently so did you. The third one is my least favourite but it does have so many bad moments in it that it's worth a watch with a bunch of booze.

Slumber Party Massacre 2 - A rockabilly killer with a drilling guitar.

Friday the 13th Part VI - Just about any Friday the 13th film works well with me and my friends. I prefer part 6 for the party choice though.

Don't Go in the Woods got GREAT laughs at a party I held 5 years ago.

As for cheesy giallo... either EYEBALL or CASE OF THE BLOODY IRIS. Most cheesy gialli I know.

^ Not sure I agree, or if you're into 90s slashers fistfuck. I think I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER is a better choice in that category.

I beg of you to add Bloody Moon (1981) to the mix. Absurd German slasher frenzy! You really can't go wrong with it.

A more recent slasher I really liked was "Dead Tone." It's pretty absurd to build a story around crank calling in the era of cell phones and caller ID but the kills are surprisingly intense and the characters are a Bennetton ad of diversity. The gay character (though practically a drag queen) is presented as completely equal and even gets a love/sex scene during a sex montage. (Nothing graphic.)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462160/?mode=desktop

And "Silent Night, Deadly Night" is pretty hilarious and features a hunky killer Santa. Part 2 is even more over the top and features the best parts of the original but is currently out of print.
