Apparently George Clooney is in talks to play a part
I think it's a great idea. There's no way to replace Fred Gwynne, but as long as they cast a kid who isn't so annoyingly "cute" I think it could be good. I think that, in this day and age, we should be allowed to have a scary, gory little kid.
I bet this kid will whisper.
*low voice* no fair......no fair, no fair
I wonder if they'll change the character and make it the little girl who dies instead, and maybe she can fall down the well instead of getting hit by a truck...and then, she can come out all wet with her hair plastered in front of her face and....
Thank God, sources have now said that George Clooney will not be appearing in this film.
George is cool.
Anyway I only saw the original flick once. I really liked it but never felt the need to watch it again so I think a remake could be good if they get someone who knows how to make scary movies. This story has such potential to scare the bejeezus out of people.
Other than the sister with menengitis (which is among the creepiest images in film history!), Pet Sematary was a pretty tepid adaptation of King's nastiest book.
I don't often say this, but go ahead with the remake.
This will only be good if they have Gage look like the way he is described in the book, after he comes back... head misshapen and sunken in cheeks (from his dad removing the cotton from his mouth) That is creepy... reading the book that shit is horrifying.
The book is so freakin' awesome. It's the first King book I ever read, and set an incredibly high standard for every one of his I read after that. Seeing the Mary Lambert film was such a huge let down for me. Go ahead and make it, but for chrimany sake, please hire a filmmaker who can handle this material, and don't do anything stupid with the casting. I guess that's kind of asking a lot..., but this adaptation done right could be so flippin' dark and creepy. I'm always down for a competent horror flick.
I just hope it is rated R and not another shit teeny pg-13 movie.
I'm sure this is going to be crap, but I like Clooney so I'm willing to give it a shot if it looks watchable.
Someone said he won't be in it.
Remake .... how the hell did this news go unnoticed for so long on this forum?
Been waiting for this.
I saw this thread and my thought was "Actually, this is one they COULD remake". And lo and behold, 12 years ago I said the exact same thing. I'm nothing if not consistent.
I almost posted the trailer this morning, but I thought it looked boring when I watched it. In fact, I turned it off towards the end, figuring I'll have to sit through it before Halloween anyway. Trailer has a really dry, ugly look about it too. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
I was a little confused when I watched the trailer, because I feel like they've been hyping this up for the past year saying it would star Michael C. Hall. I think he even did the audiobook to hype it up ala Armie Hammer for Call Me By Your Name.
Also worth mentioning, this is made by the guys who made Starry Eyes, which I didn't especially care for but horror fans seemed to go gaga for it.
Wow...... I think this looks terrific. Sign me up!
It looks ok, can't get any more excited than that.
