I think he was speaking in terms of USD rather than CAD.

Ughhhh I cannot justify $83 on this. Wtf that's so expensive. The Halloween set had twice as many discs and that was only like $10 more. I'm gonna see what prices are like in-store.

That's really not that expensive for 5 features, a book, tons of special features, and special packaging. I'm sure it'll go down some time after release, but that's not out of line for launch price and still cheaper than its MSRP which is $80 USD. The regular edition Halloween boxset was MSRP at $130 USD.

Yeah but with tax this is now $93. That's $18 a film. That's not exactly a good deal.

If I'm being honest with myself, I don't think I like these films enough to upgrade at that price. Especially when I already have 2 and 5 on Blu already. They're good, no question, but just not personal favorites of mine.

Who knows....if this, or the arrow set, become more affordable, perhaps I'll change my tune (it happened on the Halloween set). But for now, I'm not losing any sleep not having this.

". Not only is Phantasm: Ravager perhaps the most disappointing horror film of the decade, it might just be the worst horror film of the year."

LMAO whatever you say "Zombies Don't Run"

Pretty shitty review of the hoxset too.

Lol, I know right. He hasn't seen much if he thinks Ravager is the worst horror of the year. I wasn't happy with how cheap some of it looked and wish they could have found someone to throw a little more money at it. I also didn't find it a worthy conclusion to the franchise but what it did have was a lot of heart. I honestly got teary during some bits and for that I give it massive props. I'll be revisiting it again once I have my Arrow set.

I was scratching my head during the first film write-up, with the grammatical errors and summarization inaccuracies in the first two paragraphs switching me quickly from read to skim mode.

Then I jumped to the rating of the last film, which made be scroll up to read the content. I came to the conclusion the point of the final film had went completely over the guy's head. That it should have been obvious the film wasn't intended to be a straight continuation of the battle with the Tall Man, it was...

Reggie was just suffering from dementia. That the Tall Man was never a life long nemesis, only a recent fabrication of a failing mind. Or was he? - maybe Reggie's dementia was only the Tall Man's latest twist on reality. The end brilliantly followed Phantasm tradition in remaining ambiguous as to which was the truth, with a slight lean towards the bittersweet option.

Yes, the last film not only isn't perfect it has significant flaws. I perfectly agree with that. And I have to confess to an atypical appreciation for the franchise - the "go gunning for the Tall Man" films did little for me, it's the "reality mind fuck with surreal sense of dread" ones that claim my admiration. I prefer 4 and 5 above all but the first film. But for even a fleeting moment to contemplate Ravager to be bad, let alone declare it the worst horror film of the year, can only be the result of having watched an alternate reality worthy of the Tall Man himself version of the film.

Anybody order from Amazon.ca and have second thoughts about it? I have a feeling there's going to be some delay on there. There's one of those "we need more time to provide you with a delivery update" disclaimers on my order page, plus people have been reporting experiencing delays with other recent titles. Personally, I've never had an issue ordering from Amazon.ca but there's a first time for everything, right? lol

Part 2 is likely my fav, followed by the orifinal. Not crazy about Ravager, though I need to give it another spin. Regardless I would rather it exist than not exist.

Based on that blu-ray.com review, sounds like Well Go hit it out of the park with this release. Holy shit. This is one of the most comprehensive boxed sets I've ever seen.

Nice to know they utilized the extra space on the BD-50s for parts 1 and 5 as well, which will certainly help with the compression.

I might have to get this.

I definitely agree that has its flaws (hell I didn't care for it my very first viewing) but I thought it was an entertaining and worthy finale to the franchise. I'm so fucking happy it exists and they were able to do it before the death of Scrimm.

Man I can't wait to dig through this boxset.
