Its about time you got a region free player, Mark. THE HITCHER is my third favorite film of all time, and the extensive SE is one of the crowns of my collection, so I say definitely go with it. You also must get PRINCE OF DARKNESS, which is yet another of my top 5 favorite films, and the commentary is thankfully one of the best I've heard to date. I also highly recommend DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE, the ALLIGATOR double feature, NIGHT OF THE INTRUDER, and THEY LIVE from your list.
You should get the Night of the Demons trilogy. If they don't release this in R1 it will be my main reason to go region free!
Well, I went with Dellamorte Dellamore. I have it, but I'm not a huge fan. On the other hand, it's an genre must for most, and while I don't find it to be a classic, it certainly has its moments. Either way, it is time to expose yourself to its artistry. Others on your list that would be fun: Predator SE They Live 28 Days Later SE Basket Case 2 & 3 Double Feature Alligator Double Feature And please get DEATHWATCH!
Battle Royale!!! I would have said 28 Days Later, but we know that will hit R1 DVD eventually. Dellamorte would be a second choice.
Night of the Intruder SE This is my very favorite of my non US horror collection. They just went all out with this dvd. It is a must have if you like the movie, of course. Also, there is a kick ass edition of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre at Amazon uk that I recommend as well.
I can't call just one, so be sure to get Predator SE They Live Prince Of Darkness Night Of The intruder (I have to get this myself and lose that crappy, I mean great, VCD! ) Alligator DF
I just placed my first order for some R2 discs, i ordered The Hitcher SE and A Fistful Of Dynamite. My next will be Argento's Trauma and Sleepless and after that i'll probably pick up Last House SE, Alligator 2 pack and The Predator SE. I was going to pick up They Live but as much as i would like to hear the commentary the price is just too high so i'm going to just pick up the new R1 disc when its released(along with POD).
How much is They Live? That comm. track is great, and you shouldn't miss it now that you don't have too. Try www.bensonsworld.co.uk or www.blackstar.co.uk I've got most of my R2 stuff from them, and both sites are great, cheap (Bensons is usually a bit cheaper, but not on all titles, so check both) and best of all, NO problems whatsoever. Shipping is usually about a week from each.
Well with the sites you listed i'd most likely get hit with customs charges. When if i do order it would be from amazon.co.uk because there are no customs fees. The price there is 13 pounds and in Canadian its about $30 and the new version coming out i can get for $15 CND. So $15 CND for a commentary is a little steep.
Ouch, that would suck. Customs just sucks. If you have paypal or send me a money order covering the disc and re-shipping to you, I could order it/them for you and send it up to ya marked as a cheap gift. I swear I have never ripped anyone off and never will, but if you feel nervous about it I won't be offended. I'd offer yopu my copies, but no way am I parting with them (I have the first German versions from Kinowat, which I hear are the same except for the covers and logos).
Since Universal is going the bare bones route with the Carpenter flicks, you should get that THEY LIVE disc. Roddy Piper is the man.
Ya i think i'm going to order it from amazon.co.uk. Thanks for the offer bigdaddyhorse but by the time i send you the money to ship it to me it will be more or less the same price if i was to order it from amazon so it wouldn't be worth it for you to go through the trouble, but thanks for offering. I'll probably buy it sometime after August when i recover from the loss of money.
