Detailed screen comparisons are up between the Synapse Blu-ray and the old Elite DVD: http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?d1=10061&d2=10060&c=4038
Finally just finished the bluray steel book. A very fun film glad to have this in my collection
Popcorn is coming to Blu-ray in Germany. Two different mediabooks & a standard Blu-ray release. Much cheaper from Amazon DE than the Synapse steelbook, even with overseas shipping.

SYNAPSE standard release of Popcorn is coming.
Literally just posted this before you, had it in "preview" went to answer the phone. Came back, Hit post, then I saw yours. LOL Nice job.
I'll delete my post.
Just happy to see this standard release coming & happier yet that I refused to buy the steelbook.
Myself, I didn't wait and sprung for the steelbook. It wasn't because I had to have the Steelbook, I thought maybe that was the only release that would be coming out. Guess the film sold well enough for them to print a standard edition.
Wasn't trying to rub it in. You know, it can be frustrating. Some of these labels issue limited releases in special packaging with high price tags & keep us in the dark as to whether or not a cheaper less flashy edition is coming at a later date. Guess it often boils down to personal feelings on the film & whether you want to take a chance that something else will materialize.
I was happy to pay for the Steelbooks of the Argento Films and even paid up for the Demons ones knowing a regular release was coming. But that much for Popcorn was too much, so I waited. Will pick up the regular edition day one.
Oh I didn't take it as you were rubbing it in. I agree sometimes these companies do this for various reasons. I just figured Popcorn wasn't as "mainstream" as some other titles from Synapse which they did two versions. I don't feel screwed, just wish the standard version was more 'bare bones"compared to the steelbook to justify the two prices.
Can someone please remove this pointless banner from the cover...just ugly.
I'd say you played this the smart way, Baggio. Popcorn definitely has a much lower profile than Argento titles. If it was a must-own for me, I'd have grabbed the steelbook, too.
No joke - I had the Synapse site/Popcorn steelbook page open on a tab on my computer and was contemplating it this week as I sold a bit $$$ comic and was blowing some cash on movies. I also wondered if it would make it to the non-Steelbook phase.
Price drop on Amazon. I imagine it will go lower if you are patient, but pretty low right now.

I tried to watch this again not long ago as I never cared for it the first time around. The film still doesn't interest me much. I did think the beginning is much better than the ending portion of the film but over all it just ends up dragging for me. I think my favourite part is the poster art with skull and mask.
