My feelings about past viewings mirror yours, but I'm looking forward to revisiting it when the Blu arrives tomorrow. The theater setting and the parody films are a lot of fun, and it all works pretty well aside from the overly busy plotting. The unnecessary dream segments and all of the accompanying baggage are a huge drain on the proceedings. They should have trusted the slasher elements more. I also think the killer goes WAAAAAAAY over-the-top during the protracted climax. But there are enough interesting elements to convince me to give it another try.

Agree with both of you. It's why I held off in the Steelbook. I think I liked the commercials more that the film back when it was released but it does manage to be unique.

It should be a lot more fun than it ends up being. I was hoping I'd like it when I gave it another watch but I just don't.

I finally watched the Synapse blu-ray. It looks great, and I'm not sorry I bought it--but I really dislike the last half-hour of this movie. Up until then it's very enjoyable, especially Bruce Glover. But once the killer is revealed, it becomes almost unwatchable. It's the equivalent of amplifying the worst Freddy moments of the later Elm Street sequels 100 times, and having them run on for more than 30 minutes. I can't help but think that nobody watched dailies while they were making this flick. No wonder Bob Clark and Alan Ormsby didn't want their names in the credits.

  11. For some reason I love the cheesy late 80's/early 90's slashers that are goofy as fuck. Popcorn, Sleepaway Camp 2, Slumber Party Massacre II etc.

But I already spoke enough about Popcorn when the steelbook dropped. Glad I purchased it and its good to see some fans of it.
