Not perfect of course, but it's a huge leap in PQ from the old R1 DVD and has more picture information in the frame. The R2 two-disc DVD looked great, but the Blu-ray looks even better.
This gets a 5 from me. I was absolutely floored with how awesome this film looked. The brighter and more vibrant colors really brought out the cartoony zaniness of the film that was always dulled down by the older transfers. It's an older film so it's not going to be perfect, but this gets a 5 from based just on my initial reaction to it all.
Best Buy is selling it for 12 bucks. For the quality, you must pick it up.
I'm picking this up no matter what. It's just interesting to see how people here rate the quality.
No I don't have to! You Blu lovers are trying to break my bank, I refuse to upgrade everything, esp. those I've had to import better dvds of already. For $12 I can buy a movie I don't have already.*
*Me yelling at myself
If this had the stuff from that R2 dvd it would've been done already, as it is it came out at a bad time for itself as I have much other work to do on my BD collection. Down the road for $10 or less I'll be all over this.
Absolutely the best I have ever seen it look on home video. Still holding onto my R2 for the doc and commentaries though.
Thanks for posting this - I forgot this came out on bluray..
Quality is amazing, For the budget and age I gave it a solid 4.0.
