Hopefully they'll actually get it right this time.

It's already been released at least twice on blu-ray. I'm not a fan of 3D after the fact. The film wasn't shot in 3D so why release it that way now? Of course if it's a good enough upgrade I'll dip yet again.

I'm just hoping they include a decent 2D transfer because the last two were on opposite sides of the spectrum as far as image quality. I couldn't care less about the 3D.

New transfer? Sounds good to me. I'd rather have that than a 3D post-conversion.

I thought the first blu release of Predator wasn't bad - wasn't anything special but it wasn't terrible either. The 2nd release of it was awful because they DNR'd the crap out of it - Arnold looks like a wax figure in some parts.

Same here. Predator is the example of a bad modern Blu-ray.

When I heard Predator 3D I thought it was a new movie. I can't remember but I think only a few older movies have been updated for 3D and actually look good. Maybe Titanic and Top Gun. I think that's it. Predator doesn't strike me as a movie that needs 3D. And considering the past Blu-ray releases it gives me worries. But I'll take it as a bonus if the new transfer on the 2D is what it should be this time around.

"Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox announced at the Con that they’re going to release Predator 3D on Blu-ray 3D this December. There will be a regular Blu-ray 3D and a Limited Edition version packaged in a replica of the Predator’s head complete with helmet. Only 500 of LEs will be available and if you pre-ordered them at Comic-Con you got a cool exclusive – a custom scanned and 3D-printed statue of the Predator holding up your severed head and spine."

I know it will be expensive, but I'm more interested in that Predator 2 statue from Sideshow Collectibles more than a Blu-ray pack in offer.

Corrent me if I'm wrong but there's no such thing as a 4k release atm is there? It kind of makes you having to state it's just the transfer that's 4k kind of pointless doesn't it?

    Again, sorry if I'm mistaken.

Technically no, because a blu-ray can only show 1080p and 4K is way beyond that. I only used the term "4K release" because it is the term that most people use to refer to the encodes made to gain more from the disc space.

After the miracle upgrades to THE TERMINATOR and TOTAL RECALL I thought PREDATOR had a chance at redemption but it appears that is not the case. It's not a travesty because the 2008 BD is more than serviceable, unlike the original TERMINATOR and TOTAL RECALL releases.

So this new release uses the same transfer as the UHE? Oh well, saves me $15.
