Quick look at the Uk edition of Predator 3D
So I see there's a new 4k edition of Predator coming out.
I can't remember if the older edition was mastered in 4k. I don't think so, so fingers crossed this may be the edition worth upgrading to. I still have my DVD as the blurays looked so shit.
Hopefully it won't be plagued with DNR this time around...but I'm still going to wait for reviews first and to also see if the included Blu-ray is sourced from the new (or old) master.
My fingers are crossed too. I was literally looking at my DVD on the shelf the over day and wondering when they were going to do the film justice in HD.
I also heard the other Predator movies (P2 and Predators) are getting 4k treatment too bit I'm not sure that's been 100% confirmed.
I got this new version in 4K on iTunes on my Apple TV 4K, and it looks amazing!
No DNR, all the lovely filmgrain is intact. This new 4K scan, blows away all previous transfers
Sounds amazing! Now I'm looking forward to this.
The UK has a Predator Trilogy UHD/Blu-ray Combo Set for pre-order as an August 6th release. I would imagine a US trilogy release isn't far behind.
Apparently the included Blu-rays will not have the remasters though, at least according to Zavvi. They're probably correct, since the Die Hard 4K release only included the older Blu-ray disc with it.
The new 4K remaster has been uploaded to iTunes and already a positive review!:
Does anyone know yet if this upcoming blu-ray:
will be sourced from the new 4K transfer, or is it just a repackage of the previous blu-ray?
I have all three Predator movies on blu-ray and haven't even opened them yet. I still haven't even seen the last movie they did at all, Predators. But I want to marathon all of them before the new one this fall.
This is the Predator blu-ray I own, the DNR one:
I'm wondering if I should get started on my Predator marathon now with the discs I already have, or if I should sell my Predator blu-ray and wait for the new disc.
I would wait for the 4K disc. It’s supposed to look a million times better than the old blu-ray (which was ruined by terrible DNR).
I mean will the standard blu-ray release utilize the 4K transfer, or just be a repackage of the disc I already have.
I have no plans to upgrade to 4K at this time.
I understand. No, the new bluray should be the same new transfer just not 4K. It won’t be the same old disc repackaged.
At this time no one is sure. The new Die Hard 4k disc came with a Bluray of an older master so people are currently worried this might be the same deal. I sure hope not.
Predator got upgraded today, on Itunes, to include HDR (previously "only" in 4K with SDR), and looks even more amazing now
Those explosions are glowing beautifully!
Pre-order for the trilogy...IN 4K!!!
Good news and bad news. The Ultra HD disc is the new transfer. The Digital Bits just reviewed it. But the bad news is that the Blu-ray disc is confirmed to be the old transfer.
The new 4k disc looks great. A much welcomed improvement over the last Bluray.
Predator 2 looks damn fantastic too which I was surprised by considering it's less popular. It looks even better than the original.

Predator in UHD has received a good transfer review and the price is only $15.00 on Amazon right now.
