I was wondering if this release linked to here is the 1972, Paul Bartel directed flick? The synopsis sounds the same, but there is little info on the release.

Note the October 4, 2005 release date. If this is the movie in question, which I'm thinking it is, I'm gonna go even a bit more broke come fall.

Yes. It's the Paul Bartel film. One of the local video stores still has that as a rental and I recommend it all the time.

Sweet, I was pretty sure it was and already put it on my wishlist. I haven't seen this movie since I was like 12 and remember enjoying it immensely. A great piece of sleaze.

I keep telling anyone who will listen that Private Parts is one of the most underrated horror/slease films ever made. I love this movie. It's one of Bartel's best efforts.

I just watched this last night, found it at a local grocery store in the discount bins for $4. Pretty good, weird, funny, and just plain whacky. Lots of fun!

Recently picked up a brand new copy for $5.

Had brushed it off because even though I love Paul Bartel the character actor, I've been less than impressed with his directorial efforts like Eating Raoul and Scenes From The Class Struggle In Beverly Hills. But watching the trailer on YouTube, this looks like something I'd love.

I'm hoping since Criterion released Eating Raoul that this too might make the leap to Blu-ray. One can dream.

I'd imagine it's still trapped in Warner Brothers purgatory.

If anything, they'll repress it as a DVD-R via Warner Archive.

I picked this up a long time ago at Big Lots and watched it about a year ago. I had no idea what it was about and went in completely blind.

What a found was a creepy, original, and maybe even slightly charming film. I'm surprised that I haven't heard a lot more about this movie.

This was a really fun one, with an atmosphere you could only capture in the '70s / early '80s. Pretty twisted, but at the same time lite and fun. The decapitation near the beginning of the film was a bit of a shock, did not expect something like that so early. The movie did drag a little in spots, because 90% of the movie takes place inside the hotel and a lot of it is just Cheryl creeping around from room to room. But it's a really short movie and it doesn't overstay its welcome. And the twist ending predates slashers like
    Sleepaway Camp and Fatal Games
    by over a decade.

Ayn Ruymen (Cheryl) has a small role in Jaws as a nurse who tends to Chief Brody's son. I'll have to keep an eye out for her next time I watch it.

    Set your DVRs!

Private Parts will be airing on TCM Underground in HD tomorrow night at 2AM (late Saturday/early Sunday), followed by Bartel's Scenes From The Class Struggle In Beverly Hills.

If you've never seen this one, now is the perfect time to acquaint yourself.
