Anyone know when this new book will be released?
    Will it be any good?
It's announced at FabPress.com but no info found.
    Thanx!

    Hmmm...
According to Darkdreams Alan Jones will release the book at the same time the new Argento film "Il Cartaio" will hit the theaters in Italy.
    Apparantly in Januari 2004.

Heh heh. Well, when the Argento film releases, perhaps he will become another hot topic of conversation. I'd certainly look into the book, it's going for $25 on amazon, as you can see.

Well, Argento books are few and far between, so I guess we're stuck :)

Thanks for the update - got a while to wait, it seems.

I probably won't give it a read. He's biased against Phenomena (my favorite Argento film) and doesn't have his facts straight sometimes. I still haven't gotten Art of Darkness...

Art of Darkness is an amazing title. It's easily worth it for the stills alone. Not that the text is bad, but it simply looks amazing. I don't see how an Argento fan could be without it.

    -- He's biased against Phenomena--

Well, up to you of course, but that seems a bit harsh. He might not like Phenomena (I reackon it's easily one of Argentos weaker films) but so what? The book ought to cover Argento's entire career. It's got to be worth a read. I often read things about films I like, critical things - don't let it prevent you from reading great books though. So he doesn't like a film you do, that's how you learn about films - get opposing views, opposing ideas.

    I'm eager to get this.

    From darkdreams.org:
And the link for the pre-order,hardback edition (limited):
    http://www.fabpress.com/perl/search.pl?CO=FAB051
    or the paperback:
    http://www.fabpress.com/perl/search.pl?CO=FAB052
Looks like it's a definite buy for me!I'll probably go for the hardback since it's only £5 ($9/€7) above the paperback (will be more expensive in shipping though :().

I may pick this up since I missed out on Art of Darkness (which I hope to one day get the hardcover edition of). Even if Alan Jones sucks...

Just curious, why the Alan Jones hate?

I stumbled across a store that had a hardcopy Art of Darkness and snapped it up. Still, the paperback version is well worth having for the screenshot alone.

What other books about Argento are out there? I'll ask everyone this but Crystal Plumage in particular because you seem to know a lot about Italian horror, especially Argento. I'm sure there is a thread on this already, ( I can hear the "check the thread search" comments now) but I would really like to get a definitive book about his films if one exists.

Rotten Cotton has the AoD hardback listed on their site, but I don't know if they have any in stock.

Well as far as I know the only available books on Argento are Art of Darkness (only Argento book I have right now) and (the upcoming) Profondo Argento.
I checked Amazon for some titles:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/002-3542124-0897640
    And from Darkdreams.org:
It seems that most of these titles are discontinued/out of print.Still I think there's places where you could find some copies of the older books (eBay).I haven't searched for them yet.
