Oh,and I think Art of Darkness AND Profondo Argento are pretty definitive. AoD includes Non Ho Sonno and PA includes Il Cartaio.

    Shipping the signed copies!!!

According to the FABpress newsletter, which I received a couple of weeks ago,the first pressing of the book will ship this week!
So all who have preordered will get their copy in a week or so.
    AND ... ... ... ... ...
    THE FIRST 300 COPIES
    ARE SIGNED
    BY THE MASTER
    DARIO ARGENTO HIMSELF!

I read about it on Darkdreams.org and mailed Harvey Fenton (of FABpress) about it and he confirmed it.
He also told me that I will get a signed copy because I'm with the first 300 who preordered the book!:D  :D

I checked the FABpress site and the "Preorder" link is gone.

I dunno, Alan Jones seems like a really great guy to me. His writting is always top notch even if you disagree with him.
Met him, years ago in Rome, at Profondo Rosso and though he was cool. :)

    -- Art of Darkness--

I would actually question if this is a "definitive" guide. The writing is very uneven, moving from tabloid style to narratives I find all but imposible to read.

It covers all the films, and has a lot of good information. Writing wise though, it's all over the shop, and doesn't seem to follow a thread. The reproductions from the films are excellent, but for a true definitive guide for the fans, I'd say we need better writing.

I recently started reading it.It's a very difficult read for a non-English speaking person like myself.

Trust me, some of that book is difficult for NATIVE English speaking people. Not only that, but some of what is written is pretty out there too.

Here's a review for Profondo Argento (from Darkdreams.org):

Ofcourse the review is from a fellow Argentophile and close friend of Alan (if I'm not mistaken).
Still it's a great review and I'm looking forward to reading it!

Saw some Argento pics on darkdreams.

    Argento looks really old. :(

If you're talking about the "Hitchcock" pics then that's the same thing I was thinking. The man is almost 64 though, so it's inevitable that he started to age.

Looks like he's got someone to fill his shoes though (both in looks and hopefully style):
