Oddly enough, I went to Walmart today to pick up a few things, decided to scan the DVDs and found this set there for $25. It's got the four flicks (Prom Night, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, Prom Night 3: The Last Kiss and Prom Night IV: Deliver Us From Evil), the artwork is incredibly sparse and I can't even find anything about this online.

It's got the Alliance Atlantis logo on the box, so I'm assuming it's Canada-only, but it doesn't even say whether any of the flicks are widescreen or full screen (I'm assuming FS). Pretty random stuff overall.

I just checked the discs out really quick to verify what was going on. The first one's widescreen (I'm assuming it's the same as the WS disc released last year, but I have the fullscreen one from a little earlier) and the rest are fullscreen.

I'm a little bummed that the new widescreen transfer of part II wasn't included, but I believe that was out through MGM. Either way, it's nice to be able to upgrade my FS copy of the first flick and get the three sequels all in one shot.

Anyone else seen this around or heard anything about it?

Is part 3 the uncut or the tv version?

That seems to be it, but the cover looks almost identical to this:

only without the red and white blocks on the top, the 18 sticker and it also says "Includes: Prom Night, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, Prom Night III: The Last Kiss, Prom Night IV: Deliver Us From Evil" in very small script centered at the bottom.

I have no idea whether or not part III is uncut or not as I've never seen it and won't get to it for a few days. It's probably a safe bet that the disc is the same as the double feature discs of parts III and IV that Alliance put out a few years back, though.

If it's the same disc content as the R2 box set, which it sounds to be, part 3 is indeed cut.

    The R4 disc is uncut.

Yeah, I just picked this up yesterday. The first flick is indeed widescreen. I've never seen parts 3 and 4. It was a pretty good price, so I couldn't pass it up.

I just discovered this today as well. I've been trying to track down parts 3 & 4 for awhile.

The packaging is atrocious. Most of the ones I examined have at least one shaking disc loose inside, and it's a really bad little system in there for holding them in place.

    Haven't watched 'em yet.

Yeah, the disc holders SUCK! They aren't even held in by the hole in the disc, the are held in by tiny little tabs on the edge of the casing.....

I finally got around to watching part 3, and while I'm not sure if it's the uncut version, it doesn't seem to match up with the review given here: http://horrordvds.com/viewarticle.php?articleid=2

The finger cutting scene doesn't appear to be cut, there's a few bloody scenes (George Chuvalo's death, the heart-punching kill), there definitely aren't any bleeps, but during Chuvalo's death there also seems to be a cut right before the mixer/drill exits from the back of his head. Maybe this wasn't in the original, I'm not sure.

I can tell you that the finger cutting/swearing/blood cuts aren't a part of the disc in this set, though.

I bought this set about a month ago. Returned it due to Parts 1 and 3 having scratches. All their other stocks had scratches too. I FINALLY found a good one about three weeks ago. Gosh, I HATE the DVD layout. You feel like you're gonna break the DVD everytime you open the case.

Yeah, it wins a boner prize for the worst packaging I've ever experienced. After one return I said fuck it, and I'll just stick with my Prom Night II disc. Maybe I'll buy the others seperately. That's how pathetic this packaging is. :fucked:

I've heard (unconfirmed) that Prom Night III is indeed uncut on this release, just like the Australian DVD release. If the running time is 96 or 97 minutes (in PAL), it's uncut.

Interesting. So then the only let-down of the set is that Part 2 isn't the restored version that MGM has put out?

Probably, but I don't really know enough about the UK set to be sure.

I do know that the UK single-DVD release for Prom Night III released by Network lists the running time as "approx. 97 minutes" on the back cover. Of course, 75% of the time most DVD's from studios always list the incorrect running time...sometimes by large margins.

Network released the UK DVD set as well, so the DVD included in the set should be the same.
