Rate/Comment on Carrie (1976) Now it's time to step Into Brian DePalma's territory and rate what i think technically isn't the best horror film of all time but would rank as my favourite as i feel it works on so many levels, Carrie.
I'm giving this one a ten. I just think it is one of the best movies of all time. And I thought it was better than the book.
I have always loved this film and the image of her Mom walking down the stairs holding that knife has been ingrained in brain since child hood. Although i feel the first half although good, is a little inconsistent, I feel the second half is the most perfect second half in Horror film history. I give it a 9.
10 for this one too. I love this movie. Piper Laurie is awesome as the mother. She was pretty nice lookin' when she was young.
9/10 for me... De Palma has done much better, but this is probably his best pure horror entry, and one of the best Stephen King adaptations. Some scenes are undeniably effective.
Agreed... SISTERS is the better film, although that one tends to be more heavy on the suspense than pure horror (still, the first murder scene is pretty horrific).
I gave it a 9.5. Something and I'm not sure what stopped me from giving it a 10. It's easily one of the best horror movies ever made. I think it's one of those films that is more than a horror film. It's a drama with horror elements in it. The movie far surpasses the book. I think it's the only movie based on a Stephen King novel that is better than the book. This may be De Palma's best horror movie as well. It is solid throughout, and I don't think that can be said for all of his movies. I have never seen a movie that depicts an outcast better than Carrie.
Just saw this for the first time today. I gave it a seven. The last 20 minutes were really good, and some great editing. BTW, how do you do those spoiler things?
