7 for me. Despite some really effective moments I think the overall film is very uneven. I do enjoy the opening quite a bit.

I'm generally a big fan of Pino Donaggio. But I strongly dislike his score for Tourist Trap. It's flat-out goofy and a real detriment to the mood of the film. I never really understood all the praise.

10/10. This was one of the first dvds I bought when released. I have fond memories of this film. I remember taping it from late night TV years ago and showing all of my friends. Chuck Conners is so cheesy and over the top in this film, but somehow, it works. The film is hard to define in in any one category and it's really creepy.

Man, I could have written your post word for word - my experience exactly. My only sort-of regret is you can get the DVD for under $10 now and I paid at least $25. Ah, well...

Oh, wow, this is one of my favorite scores of all time! I still check periodically to see if this will EVER get a proper CD release. I think the opening theme perfectly captures the deceptively playful nature of Mr. Slausen and his deadly playground. It is "goofy," as you put it, but it builds in tension the same way the movie does until it just stops with no relief. And the love theme is heartbreakingly gorgeous. Maybe it's just odd to hear such a lush score for a low-budget horror film?

7/10, and that's kinda high in my mind.

It has its moments, but I too am baffled at its fanbase.

I'm all for some good ham, but Chuck is flat out miscast in this. Something about it just comes off as pure play acting to me. Not a genuine moment.

I'd forgotten about the score, which I agree hits the wrong notes for this movie. That is one of the major draw backs to Charles Band, his horror scores are more appropriate for straight up fantasy than horror.

I remember not loving this film when I first watched it. I'll have to give it another chance during my October viewings.

    8 for me.

The first time I watched it, I had a hard time even making it through the film. I watched it again last year and really enjoyed it. I guess it's all about expectations.

Solid 8 definitely. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this recently for the first time. I wasn't expecting much.

Do you know if there're any plans to release this one in blu-ray format in the near future?
