Curse of Michael Myers is one of those flicks that I know I shouldn't like but I can't help it, it's one of my faves. Whenever it's on, I can't help but watch.

Although all these movies are watchable, the thing I hate is the flip flopping back and fourth of the story line.... In 4 and 5, Jamie is supposed to be Laurie Strod's daughter, and is supposedly dead. Then all of a sudden in H2O, she says she's been hiding, but never any mention about her daughter. She apparently only has a son.... I don't know.... just drives me nuts that there is no straight story line....

    HalloweeN
    HalloweeN II
    HalloweeN 4
    HalloweeN III
    HalloweeN 6: Producer's Cut
    HalloweeN: H20
    HalloweeN 5
    HalloweeN Resurrection

I really liked the producer's cut over the theatrical. No over-the-top exploding heads or green slime here! I know many people despise the thorn route, but I look at it as an interesting spin. I don't necessarily like the idea of Michael being controlled by a cult or a rune. However, the idea of Michael's nemesis becoming his guardian is disturbing. Loomis hunted him all this time to only be cursed in the end with that very same evil.

The ones I have trouble watching on repeat are Resurrection and H20.
I watch Halloween II probably more than any of the films. This is probably due to the fact that I volunteer at a local hospital at night and liked to be creeped out. I always enjoyed how the score is almost in a triumphant tone declaring straight off the bat that evil lives!

I absolutely love Halloween 3. It's one of my all time favorite movies. It has more of a Halloween feel than the rest (i'm referring to the actual holiday).

The first is of course a genre classic.I know many hate 3,but I consider it as it's own thing, and as such,I'm very fond of it.4 was a fun return to the charecter and I really enjoyed Pleasance as well.H20 was slick and fun, great to see Curtis back.2 lacks the energy of the first film and wastes Curtis, but Pleasance is good and it has it's moments.Resurection was trendy, but it was a kind of fun audience film.I found 6 to be depressing and 5 I truly hated.Everybody has their favorites of course,my views are no more valid than anyone elses.

Oh, I suppose you could throw on H20 to make a trilogy. Of course, Halloween III is a great movie all on its own. As far as the rest go, they don't exist.

You should probably stay away from Godzilla movies then. ;)

    I'd probably go with:

Halloween 4. The lead actress did a fantastic job, though there were some rather laughable plot holes.

Halloween 3. Fun little movie, creative premise.

Halloween. Okay movie. As slashers go, it was somewhat below average.

Halloween 2. Crappy characters, boring and predictable.

Halloween 5. As that girl from Jason X said, "This sucks on so many levels".

Halloween H2O. Yawn. Are they STILL making these things?

Halloween Resurrection. This was an intentional comedy. Wasn't it?

Hmmm... almost exactly in order. It couldn't be any more obvious that this series started going down and kept right on rolling.

I don't consider Season of the Witch part of the series but I did like it and think it's better than 6 and 8.

I rewatched and compared 6 to the producer's cut and I still hold by my belief that the producer's cut is far superior. When they re-edited the picture they created quite a few plot holes. In the theatrical cut, it had always bothered me that Michael Myers went out of his way seemingly to kill the radio DJ but in the Producer's cut it's clear that the DJ simply climbed into the wrong van. There's a lot more Myer's carnage at the end of the theatrical cut but it's not clear why he turns on the Thorn Cult. That never happens in the Producer's. Also the theatrical cut has the problem with Dr. Loomis disappearing from the action only to come back at the end and it's never explained where he went or how he escaped from the cult. Why does he go back into the Clinic? And then his off screen demise. It's nothing but a jumbled mess compared to the Producer's.

That's about right, I reckon. I didn't include Halloween III either because we all know it's there as a title only, and has nothing else to do with the franchise. Still, all these films are watchable - I can only hope that pristine versions of all the titles will appear one day - Halloween looks great, the others need help.

    1. Halloween
    2. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
    3. Halloween H20
    4. Halloween 2 (a big disappointment, but it's better than Halloweens 3, 5, 6, and Halloween: Resurrection)
