    1. Halloween
    2. Halloween II
    3. Halloween III: Season of the Witch- They should've never used the Halloween name. It should've been John Carpenter presents: or something like that. Oh, and Mikey was in this "sequel" for a couple of seconds. ;)
    4. Halloween 4
    5. Halloween: H20- I liked this one! What's with all the hate? It brought a nice closure for Laurie. LL was annoying though...
    6. Halloween (2007)
    7. Halloween 5- Mikey in jail?! The dipshit in black busting him out. A lifeless sequel with a silly cliffhanger ending.
    8. Halloween 6- The silliness continues...
    9. Halloween: Resurrection- There was a sliver of hope when the director of part 2 was back. That ended when Laurie died, not to mention how Mikey came back. I was already comatose when Busta had his big scene with Mikey. Rappers shouldn't be in horror movies.

    7) HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION
    8) HALLOWEEN 5: THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS
    9) HALLOWEEN 6: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS

I don't feel the remake fits on the list. It's a different animal all together. I watched Resurrection the other night, and contrary to my previous opinion, it's aged well. Still not the "greatest" movie by any means, but I no longer feel it's the worst of the series.

Great premise for a poll. This is my favorite film series, and the only ones I didn't like were H20 and Resurrection (not to mention the travesty of a remake). Here are mine in order:
*Halloween (greatest horror movie of all time)

*Halloween 4 (totally reanimated the series and had wonderful atmosphere and scares-an incredible movie)

*Halloween 6 (I thought this one also had some remarkable atmosphere, and the producer's cut and theatrical cut both have their individual strengths-I love both of them)

*Halloween 2 (flawed in some ways, but still captures just enough of the magic of the original to make it work overall-plus fantastic work from Pleasence)

*Halloween 3 (an interesting story that was very well done, just cursed by the association with the Myers dynasty-plus Tom Atkins, you can't go wrong with anything he does)

*Halloween 5 (many strong points including Danielle Harris continuing one of the strongest child perfrormances I've seen and some solid scares, but some more glaring weaknesses- the early exit of Ellie Cornell and the goofy cops complete with sound effects were both big mistakes here)

*Halloween 8 ( acouple of decent moments in the house, but all of the horrendous Busta Rhymes garbage sunk this one)

*Halloween H20 (just didn't work for me at all in any way- taking Michael out of Haddonfield was a huge blunder in my opinion, and nothing about this seemed scary)

1--Halloween--to me this will always be an annual holiday viewing event, a total classic film in every sense of the word.

2--Halloween 2 (imho, the most seamless horror sequel I've ever seen, and for me, despite a few flaws, almost mirrors the mood set by the original)

3--Halloween 4: Return of Michael Meyers

    4--Halloween H20 (a.k.a. 7?)

5--Halloween 6: (for me this is kind of on an even par with 5, but the fact that there is apparently a much better director's cut I've not seen yet makes me rank it higher out of hope

6--Halloween 5: To me, this reeked...True enough, Danielle Harris was great, continuing to amaze me as one of the very few child stars that didn't annoy me, but Pleasance was pretty much a robot, they killed off Ellie Cornell's character way too early, and the rest of the characters (especially that goddamned Tina) got on my nerves within a few minutes...It seems like I can appreciate it a tad more now than I did back in its day, but after seeing a little clip with the director mugging for the camera, complete with wild eyeballs and a silly voice saying "it's gonna be soooo scarrrry" I wanted to belt him across the piehole....stinks like yesterday's garbage

7--Halloween 8--WHAT?? reality shows, Big Brother-type losers, Tyra Banks in the basement and a house full of annoying teens at a party that is so fun they'd all rather hover around a computer nerd's masturbation station? sigh....

I left out Halloween "3", just because as a part of the series it doesn't really fit, and although it does have a few holes and some flaws, I rather like this movie, and I think that on it's own it holds up pretty well...It does echo a lot of the atmosphere found in the first two films, just applied in a different manner, and I think it works better as a separate entity...If I had to include it with the others, I'd put it either ahead of Hall 4, or after it I guess.

I think the rest are good movies but you cant compare to the first two and the third one not being a true movie is still awesome in its own right. If I watch Halloween I have to watch the second one also or it dont feel like a complete movie.Anyone know what I mean?

    6. Halloween 5 (1989)
    7. Halloween H2O (1998)

Halloween: Resurrection (2002) and Halloween (2007) are totally irrelevant as far as I'm concerned and will not be included in my list.

  12. 1, 2, and 3 (in that order) are the only ones that have ever really held my interest. I guess if I had to I would rank 4 over the rest of the films, but after that it's like picking your favorite turd for me.

edit: forgot to put the new one in. tough call...

For me, series ends there. Myers died in part II and that's the end of it.

    1. Halloween (1978) (of course)
    2. Halloween H2O (In my opinion, this is the only sequel of them all that even
tried to do justice to the original.)
    3. Halloween II
    4. Halloween 4
    5. Halloween 5
    6. Halloween III
    7. Halloween 6

Zombie's Halloween would be on the bottom, but it was entertaining compared to the other two shitfests.

Since seeing the remake in theatres opening weekend, I've re-watched all of the films except Halloween: Resurrection. I never stopped watching the first three in the series, but it's been a long time since I revisited those later sequels.

    My new rankings are:

    Halloween
Halloween 3: Season of the Witch
    Halloween 2
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
Halloween 6: The Curse of Micheal Myers
    Halloween H20
    Rob Zombie's Halloween
    Halloween: Resurrection

1.) Halloween. The original is unquestionably one of the greatest horror movies ever made.
2.) Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Very well-done revival that should have also been the finale for the series. Loved the ending; it would have brought the series full-circle.
3.) Halloween II. Nothing spectacular, but a good, solid slasher sequel.
    4.) Halloween H20. A solid anniversary piece.
5.) Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Very hard to rank with the others. On its own terms, it's a cool 80's horror movie.
6.) Halloween (2007). Loved the "origin" stuff. Once adult Myers is back in Haddonfield, it becomes an inferior retread, though.
7.) Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. Very uneven, with both good moments and cheese aplenty.
8.) Halloween: Resurrection. Just kind of blah, but gets much worse when Michael is jobbed out to some rapper.
9.) Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. One of the worst sequels ever. All that Druid nonsense reeks of bad fan fiction. This is where the franchise jumped the shark, necessitating a reboot for H20.

    I haven't seen the so-called "Producer's Cut" of Part 6, and I can't say I care. You can't polish a turd, as they say.

    My thoughts exactly.

    THE GOOD

    Halloween: Simply the best.

Halloween III: Unique film that's not only fun, but frightening. I don't think of it as a horror film, though.

Halloween 4: Great follow up to the classic that is Halloween, and a miracle after the mediocre slash-fest that was Halloween II.

Rob Zombie's Halloween: Stuff it. I liked it for what it was.

Halloween: H20: Used to be on the other side of my Good/Bad Halloween list, but I've come to appreciate it and like it despite some of its faults)
    _________________________________________________________________

    THE BAD

Halloween II: Fan favorite? Sure, but that doesn't stop the film from being boring up until the final 20 minutes.

Halloween 6: Don't care which cut. They're both boring.

Halloween 5: Absolutely awful follow up to the absolutely awesome Halloween 4. Should have followed up with the ending of 4.

Halloween: Resurrection: Not going to waste my time saying why I didn't like it.
