will wait for the second sight release, the bd-rdl discs cost and anm and a leg. I have a region free bluray player for emergencies but it sucks compared to my region locked player.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. If I didn't know any better, based on the Image BD alone, I'd say that Re-Animator was shot on 16mm. On the bright side, it is still much better than their transfer of Hellbound...

I dunno, those screen caps look pretty damn nice. I haven't seen Re-Animator in years (and was probably back on VHS) - never owned it so yeah I think I'm gonna grab it.

Either way I think the clarity of the image definitely looks improved. I'll have to wait for the UK disc though as this is locked.

Do we know if the Second Sight release is going to be a steelbook like Return of the Living Dead was?

I don't get why they didn't post full HD shots. Of course when you downsize them they're going to look like a DVD screenshot. That's a pretty poor way to show a comparison.

    Uh-huh

I do have to say the Blu-ray transfer looks very uneven on this. Sometimes it just really doesn't look much better than a DVD upconvert, and at other times it definitely looks like an HD transfer. An example would be about 67 minutes into the film, the picture gets extremely grainy and filmlike.

It does look better than the DVD's, but this isn't one that's going to scream "better" in HD. The lossless 5.1 audio does sound great though.

just cause somethings is on blu ray, dont mean its gonna look like avatar everytime. I actually prefer certain dvd transfer over their blu ray counterparts.

They're full HD shots. Just click on them to see. Did I miss where he says otherwise? Are you talking about the ONE resized image to compare it to a possible upconvert?

I don't get the hate against Kentai. Don't shoot the messenger. I'm not going to buy Re-Animator on Blu-ray just to say I have it on Blu-ray. I want the best possible picture. It was shot on 35mm. There's room for improvement here.

I did click on them, they came up as almost equally sized even when I clicked on them a second time.

The Blu-ray images are a smidgen bigger than the DVD ones, but those are definitely not full 1080 sized images for the Blu-ray.

As of today, the Image blu of Re-Animator is the best it's ever looked. Perhaps a better one will come along, but I'm okay with spending $13 for the best one out right now. :)

Me too - same thoughts, and I never got the DVD so looking at those Blu grabs look light years better than what I'm accustomed too. It'll hit $9.99 or lower and I'll definitely bite then.

Okay...Granted...I was in an extremely foul mood this afternoon when I wrote that. But I don't care what the message is, the messenger is a tool. That is why he deserves to get shot, not because he brings bad news. :fire: In all seriousness, Kentai seems to see upconversions hiding underneath his bed and in his closet and behind every bush outside his house. Substitute "upconversion" with Martians or Communists or CIA agents and he would fit right into any paranoid movie made in the last fifty years. ;)
