Why are the greatest horror movies made inside this country given the best and most exquisite editions outside of it? Fucking ridiculous.

Second Sight's UK version was pushed back to 2014, along with BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR and SOCIETY.

Ouch... Really? I had hoped to get an announcement soon so I could pick and choose which one to go with. There's a few other German releases I would have thrown it together with.

Hopefully that's a good sign though of more unique extras in the UK. I'll have to ponder this one.

Yup, they officially announced it on their FB page a few weeks ago.

The movies may be produced in America, but it makes perfect sense since the overall gross of a movie comes from the rest of the world.

And that "ridiculous" remark was somehow a selfish opinion based on the sentence.

Well that explains why I haven't heard anything new on these. I guess that's good though as I have a lot of releases I want to get this year already.

Second Sight already stated on their facebook page many months ago that their print is the one used for the German release.

I know that, but encoding and bitrates can vary between releases even if they utilize the same print.

If the Germans are using the Second Sight print why is SS's release delayed so long? The transfer is obviously ready to go. SS could lose some business if people decide they don't want to wait and jump on the German version. Hell, I'd grab the German release if it was English-friendly (and wasn't too expensive).

Because it isn't Second Sight's "print" at all.
I don't know where you guys got this misinformation from, but the people who did the work on Re-Animator, Bride of Re-Animator and Society were the Germans (distributor Capelight hired TLEFilms Film and Sound Mastering Restoration & Preservation Services to work on these titles, and paid for the 4k scans; TLEFilms are awesome, by the way; their work on Fritz Lang's M is a beauty), Second Sight simply licensed this transfer for their release.
It makes sense that the people who actually did and paid for the work will get it out first.

Also, for those waiting for the Second Sight release, be advised they confirmed their BD release will only include the Unrated Cut, and none of the alternate cuts from the German BD set.

The German set is English friendly, and not expensive at all (I bought it for around 20 euros), especially considering it is 2 BDs + 1 DVD. It has English audio and subtitles for the Unrated Cut, and just English audio (no subtitles) for the "Integral" Cut and TV version. The TV version is in SD.
The deleted footage was also scanned in 4k, and there's an isolated soundtrack option.

So exactly how limited is the German Mediabook BD set?

I don't know how many copies were pressed, but what they probably mean is they did a pressing in a Mediabook format, and afterwards they will switch to a regular keepcase.
Will they drop anything (2nd BD, or the DVD) in the process? I don't know.

I would prefer to have this on a regular keepcase, without the DVD, but I decided not to risk it, since Re-Animator is a personal favourite, and I bought it.

By the way, DTM.at has it for 19.99 euros.

That set looks so nice. Man if Scream factory could get the rights, and put together a nice Re-animator box set with all three films would be amazing, but yeah that German release looks great.

A HUGE word of warning: this set has the same mediocre transfer as the US release, and the only reason it has 5 discs is because they took most of the special features from the US BD, removed them from the BD, and put them on DVDs.
It has a BD, 3 DVDs (2 with special features, 1 with the film) and a soundtrack CD.

No one said that the print is owned by Second Sight.
