I actually kinda like the look of the covers (although the 'Cult Fiction' phrase is a bit wanky), but think the design would be better suited for giallo releases.

I like the concept of the cover art, work's well for C.H.U.D. but it's all wrong some of the films, especially for Fitzcarraldo. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, but it's certainly no grindhouse material.

I think I'm in the minority for kind of liking the new style, but I agree with X-human that some titles aren't exactly suitable for the "pulp" look. I would like to see new titles, rather than the old recycleds, but at least there's some innovation behind the design. Some unreleased 80s slashers would be nice, Code Red is definitely filling that need for us on an entirely different level...Starz/Anchor Bay needs to step up their releases a bit, that's all. Speaking honestly, their independent projects mostly suck.

So is there any difference between these releases and the previous ones? Or are they just an actual re-release?

I picked up four of these today in a 2/$20 deal at HMV, which wasn't bad at all. I got:

The Man Who Fell to Earth
    The Quiet Earth
    Kidnapped
    Road Games

    Pretty stoked about all four

Kidnapped wasn't a re-release though, was it? That was just released less than a year ago.

I might grab "The Man Who Fell to Earth" and "CHUD" next time DD has an Anchor Bay sale.

I'm surprised they didn't include Halloween, Halloween 4, Halloween 5, Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead in this line.

(What is this, the fifth repackaging of Wicker Man?)
