He was 88.
I presume most of us will be diving into the batman 60s series that made west so iconic, but im also gonna take the oppurtunity to discover some of his other work. Im def gonna give one dark night and robinson crusoe on mars another spin. RIP
R.I.P. He was always excellent at bringing an odd style of comedy to films.
He was the only Batman that I ever really liked.
Another great icon lost, RIP Batman you will be missed
News I didn't want to wake up too...again.
RIP Adam. I always felt your Batman was one everyone can look up to.
Terrible news. May he rest in peace.
RIP Mayer West. Love that Family Guy character.
Adam West was & still is my favorite Batman. Still love the 60's television series. So glad that Mr. West got to participate so much in the Blu-ray complete series package that was released 3 years ago. I will revisit some episodes this weekend in his honor.
Time to break out the bluray set.
A brilliant actor with impeccable timing and by all accounts a wonderful human being. Good-night, sweet prince; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
It do have to question the press's thesis that the Batman role pigeon holed him. While at the time it may have felt that way to him, almost all actors struggle, and any hit show can make an actor feel tight cast. Yet he was always able to get some work and some money via his Batman connection. Few actors can say that. And he had a level of success most any actor would envy. He took it all in stride and in the end won over the hearts and minds of a new generation. So .
Jesus. Another of my childhood idols gone. I know I'm getting old--but Roger Moore and West inside 3 weeks is too much.
I watched a pair of episodes back to back on Me-TV last night after I heard the news. He had that rare ability to be terrifically funny without seeming to be AWARE of it, we were cracking up but onscreen he appeared to be totally earnest (Leslie Nielson had that too). That's great comic acting, not mugging, just being totally invested. West was a very talented (and versatile) actor , but if you're gonna always be associated with a signature part, it's nice that he was linked to one that brought so much joy to so many generations. Rest In Peace.
If you're going to be linked forever to a character, I can't think of a greater character than Batman:
