I'd like to think this had something to do with audiences being sick of remakes and reboots but it very likely just has to do with the producer's cash flow.Probably has too many projects to juggle right now.I doubt this is the last we'll see of Jason regardless of who's behind the scenes.
The phone call (from Jason?) was definitely off-kilter. He was intelligent enough to find her, true. Very strange from the vein of the rest of the movie...kind of. I mean, he is both smart throughout, but also a follower. However, I believe Alice rented out a place in Crystal Lake town or something, because when her mother called, she said that (to paraphrase) 'this is the only way I know how to deal with it'. Plus I keep reading it over and over in other places about how she returned to the town to overcome her fears. So that's a lot less farfetched than him crossing states, yet I always thought that it was 'his neck of the woods'. Of course, he did walk all the way from the new Camp Blood in II to the Jarvis home in IV.
Well yeah that all might have been said years down the road about Alice, but I doubt much of that was thought out during shooting. Their motives were more than likely "Make Alice a Basket Case, Make Her Die, Make it Scary." Which would be admirable motives. I still think that opening shot of Jason walking up to her house is one of the best in the series.
Indeed. That house and his jeans/boots are atmospheric. It's one of the creepiest scenes of the series.
Bummer, the reduex was fun enough and more Jason is a good thing no matter if he's in hell or space! Ya'll are all fucking crazy for cheering that we won't get another flick.
I've said this countless times. Originality is an illusion created to impress the masses. Was Hatchet really that much different from a remake of one of the slasher classics? I'd actually rather have a Friday the 13th reboot sequel than another Hatchet. The Friday reboot was at least fun - at least I enjoyed it for its lowbrow humour.
I agree. Aside from the forced humor it was a Friday/Madman rip-off. It's kinda funny when you think about it cause the marketing campaign (and its annoying rock star wannabe director) boasted how "original" the film was. Give me another Jason film any day!
I was just re-reading parts of the Crystal Lake Memories book and I stumbled upon a bit in the chapter for Jason X that talked about the director wanting to set it at Crystal Lake in the winter with a group of cross-country skiers getting snowed in and being forced to stay in the cabins. Dammit, I wish we just had THAT movie.
hatchet was fantastic, a fun gory ride, i can't wait for the sequel and would have take hatchet over another platinum dudes dreg of a sequel anytime!
Can't say I'm disappointed in hearing this. The first one was so bad - even the lens was misaligned during the general store scene (no - that wasn't the intention of that filter!)
I really liked the remake and really am confused why a studio hasn't fastracked a sequel to a movie that did the business. I enjoyed this more then nightmare remake. It seems strange Jason and Freddy get rebooted-Englund sitting out and they stop their plans. Freddy vs Jason made money as well, that could of had a great sequel, I'm not sure the studio is aware of the cashcow they have and what fans want when they want it.
