    I'm by no means a Petty fan or purist, but his songs--or, rather, his singles--are a significant part of my 90s teenage soundtrack that it's hard not to get a bit misty as I listen to his albums today, albums I never bothered to explore back then.

    "Don't Come Around Here No More" such an outlier in Petty's catalogue. I love the sitar, the female backing vocals, the bizarre "Stop!" shouts, and yes, the repetition. It's a song that makes me think of hazy college days.
