I just started watching rituals, from the box set, I'm not really feeling it. Is it really decent? So far it kinda sucks. What's so spectacular about it?

I've never seen it, but why don't you just keep watching and let us know what you think when it's finished? ;)

Just watched this tonight. I have the avco/Embassy VHS. It was really good. Started out slow, but really got going. Nice atmosphere, solid acting, location and photograpy was nice. Finally a 'Delieverance' type film with a motive and actual suspense.

Thank you for the tip, but... it's not there. Any other suggestions?

    Thank you!

It is there, but not all that can be grasped is openly listed...

The magic is in the kaballic number 5869.

And in case of other trouble, the path to the cemetary of dead donkeys always remains for the lost traveller...

Thank you for your wisdom Mighty Mr. Vess. But dead donkeys have no seed from which the magic can spring forth.

That sucks. I have quite a few German R2 DVDs and none have forced German subtitles. I will still get that release though.

The recent R2 disc? Someone over on the ABUK forum posted that the DVD was cut big time, and the transfer isn't better than a VHS.

This looks bad... though I had the VHS-to-XVid transfer of the uncut "Rituals" that was torrented a while ago, I wanted a proper DVD release... Are the subtitles displayed on the film region or below the picture? And are they physically burned into the negative and transferred with the film, or are they just prohibited by the DVD's PUO?

If it's the latter, one could theoretically copy the disc and remove the restrictions (and the subtitles :)) - and there supposedly are standalone players that ignore the PUO's, anyway (I wish I knew what models, though)
