The Texas Chainsaw Massacre...the ulitmate good time road trip gone askew but then finishes with a happy ending dance performed by the main villian movie.
My friend had roped me into seeing Joyride. I admit I wasn't too interesed in seeing it, but there was nothing else playing at the theater that time that either one of us wanted to see. It turned out to be a pretty good movie, one of those edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting, jumping around in your chair kind of movies. :nervous:
Damn hard choice, Hitcher is great as is Hitch-Hike and so is Breakdown but i gotta go with the best which is THE HILLS HAVE EYES.
Wow, this is a tough one. Here are my top 3... Number 1 is what I voted for 1.) TCM 2.) HILLS HAVE EYES 3.) THE HITCHER
Wow, there are a lot of excellent road flicks! I had to go with the masterpiece that is THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. I will admit though, that I did quite like JOY RIDE.
This was tougher for me than it probably should have been. TCM is definitely my favorite movie on this list, but some of the others, including Joy Ride and Jeepers Creepers, both of which I enjoyed, make better use of the "road trip" theme (since in TCM, they'd really already gotten there). That's why I eventually decided to vote for Joy Ride.
I'm gonna go with From Dusk Till Dawn. This movie makes a great road trip flick and with a great cast this movie is a must. And the total 180 degrees during the final 30 minutes is brillant! Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hitcher the newly discovered Hitch-Hike and Breakdown rounds out my faves.
Damn, there are some damn good films on that list! Anyhow, I voted for THE HITCHER, as it is one of my top five favorite films of all time.
I've had Joy Ride sitting on my shelf for a few weeks now. Taped it off HBO. After reading all this, I had to stick it in. DAMN! That was a good little flick. Had me tensed up through most of it. I'm glad you guys got me to watch it!!
Oh stop lieing... you know you enjoyed it b/c you got to see Paul Walkers ass naked at the Truck Stop!   Nah... but it was a cool movie. Its funny. when I used to go 4x4 w/ my ol truck I used to pop out the ol CB radio and talk mad shit to everyone I got a reception from off the highways. people wither with me nor with our 4x4 group used tha laugh our asses off.
I loved Joy Ride, I watched it on Christmas Eve last year. I didnt think I would but I havent seen a Steve Zahn movie I didnt like.
This isn't a reflection on which is the best film, but the film to/in which the actual road trip aspect of the story is the most vital, relevant, and inextricable, is The Hitcher.
I just saw DUEL again recently and it holds up remarkably well. Unlike many of the other contenders here the bulk of the film is actually spent behind the wheel too.
