After dropping a hint a while back, Ronin Flix has announced it's own first release:

...and apparently there will be a free Magnet offer with this one also. I got a pop-up notification on the page asking to enter your email to get a code to use when it becomes available to order.

It seems that Hardware should be up to order anytime now. "coming 6/28"

The page now shows a price of $34.99, and I also received an email with the"code" to use for the magnet and extra 10% off the price.

The email states it's only valid for 72 hours, so I would assume this goes live very soon...

Too bad it’s US shipping only.
But, I got the UK blu-ray that I bought back in 2010, which still looks great, so I’ll survive.

I’m sure the new 4K scan will improve things further, but I think I reached the point, where I will only upgrade movies (on blu-ray) that desperately needs a new transfer, like those old Italian releases that are plagued with scanner noise etc.

Though if they released Hardware on a UHD disc, with HDR or Dolby Vision, then I’ll probably upgrade.

This movie is unlike any I've ever followed (except Dust Devil). Supposedly, it was meant to be this great splatter-punk epic (sort of like Dust Devil) until the studio got their hands on it and messed everything up. Then, throughout the years, it was supposed to have all these great alternate versions that explored the director's true vision (like Dust Devil) without all the suits involved. I've always maintained that Hardware and Dust Devil are average-looking movies with sub-average plots that were lucky to see releases at all. In my estimation, Hardware and Dust Devil are constantly hyped by hype, when in turn they're not very good... IMO.

I saw Hardware in the theater and enjoyed it. Later on there was a cut that had additional violence (can't recall if it was a bootleg or legit) which I saw. It's been a while now since my last viewing and while I agree it isn't a masterpiece I'll still be upgrading.

While I can't speak for Dust Devil I was pretty bored by Hardware the one time I watched it. Since then I got a brand new, free copy when I ordered some movies from somewhere and have gotten 2 more brand new copies in grab bags I bought at conventions and I think that says plenty about the movie. I gave one away but it was kind of a gag gift because I already knew the person I was giving it to disliked it as well.

Got my order in, $31.50 thanks to the email promo code.

I thought maybe they'd have the two Scorpion Blu-rays up today also, but I guess not.

Edit: looks like the 2 Scorpion titles won't be up for sale until next week now...according to Ronin & Scorpion.

Side question: does anyone remember if Ronin had a 4th of July sale last year? I have several titles I'm ready to order but could wait a few more days if there might be a discount coming.

I don't remember them having one then. If they do, newer release titles probably won't be included though.

Okay I was able to do this the other day but now I can't find where to enter a promo code during checkout. What am I missing?

There should be a small box during the checkout process where it says "Promo Code" or something like that.

I just tried going through checkout again myself... and I am not seeing it right now either.

Thanks for checking, Katatonia. I know it was there the other day because I was able to enter the Mark13 code CPT HOOK posted but it was rejected because I wasn't ordering Hardware. Now I can't figure out where the box popped up. I messaged Ronin about it so hopefully they'll respond. Nothing urgent but I was hoping to get the House on Sorority Row magnet if they had any left.

Yup, I think they have temporarily removed the Promo Code field from checkout.

I do realize why now... the "email" they sent out said the promo code was only valid for 72 hours, and listed the expiration time for it:

I don't remember anything about an alternate cut circulating, at least outside of the grey market. I do remember, when seeing it in the theater in 1990, that I was shocked that the graphic elevator door bisection was in the film. Having seen the photos in Fangoria, I never expected any of that to survive the MPAA, and wondered if an X-rated cut had somehow been snuck into release.

The studio didn't really meddle with Hardware. Dust Devil is another story, however.
