It certainly will be expensive, but think of all the great stuff to watch in October. Can't wait! :D

Incredible. Need to watch It again before I purchase that one, though. I read the book before it aired on TV so I was underwhelmed by the story's abbreviation in film form, let alone it being network television friendly.

Is this the miniseries version of Hooper's SALEMS LOT or the cut down/slightly more violent version that played overseas in theaters ?

    It's the mini series :)

I got the HDTV rip on my harddrive, and it look amazing, like shot yesterday.
But if this is an even newer transfer, improving on the HDTV version, then my head will explode :D

Actually, it's an amalgam of the mini series and the theatrical cut, same as the DVD, is my guess. It'd be nice if they restored the "gun in mouth" shot for this release though. Here's hoping.

Ah, just checked my HDTV version.
The version I have, is not split in two parts, it's cut together like a full 3hr movie.
And he holds the gun in front of his face, in this one.

Let's hope the "gun in mouth" is included in this new transfer :)

I will be getting all three of these. I need to sit down an re-watch IT. I really like Salem's Lot. That vampire scared the shit out me when I was younger.

Yeah, I like that he reminds me of the 1922 version of Nosferatu.

This mini series probably has the best and most scary vampires ever put on film :)

Geoffrey Lewis still freaks me out, in this scene :D

The 2004 version was pretty good as well, but the vampire makeup is just nowhere near the 1979 version.

Considering how close the street date is I'm surprised to find that nobody has it up for preorder yet.

So maybrik..which version do you prefer? I don't think you ever told us. I like the first one a little better - for sentimental reasons because it was in the 70's and I was young and it brings fond memories for me.

I prefer the mini series over the theatrical cut, but I wish this release would give us both.

I just watched SALEM'S LOT a few weeks ago and loved it all over again. And a new commentary with Tobe??? I'm totally stoked! I'll probably upgrade my CAT'S EYE DVD depending on the reviews.

I am getting all three titles. I agree with Maybrick on this thread. It would be nice to have a 2 on 1 Blu of both version's of Salem's Lot.

The commentary with Hooper is a surprise, the majors aren't coughing up money for extras anymore on back catalogs.

And what's this I keep reading about offers with a t-shirt I keep reading about on Blu-ray.com? Is that a running joke or something?
