There's nothing really that gets me scared, though a lot of films still give me the chills and creeps when I watch them in a dark room.

    The Exorcist
    The Others
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

The scariest movie I have ever seen is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(the original). I saw it the first time when I was 13 and in the daytime too. Afterwards I didn't even want to go out of the house, and it left me with a very unsettling feeling that to this day hasn't been matched.

There are many great bone-chilling movies that have been made. However, I don't think there ever has been or ever will be a more frightening movie as The Exorcist. :nervous: :eek1:

....Just my humble opinion, of course! :)

'The Brady Bunch In The Whitehouse'. Never before has a film made me feel so suicidal, and thus genuinely afraid for my own life.

My answer to this comes in two stages in my life. As a child the scariest movie I had ever seen was Poltergeist II. Yes...pretty lame...but I was 7 at the time and when I saw the commercial with Julian Beck as Henry Kane I was a wreck.

As an adult I would say that it was probably The Blair Witch Project. I came home that night from the theatre and just kept thinking about that final scene with Mike in the corner...ugh!

That statement immediately reminded me of that floating bastard in Salem's Lot. That scene still gives me the willies. :nervous:

  10. Come on people, you forget about Black Christmas! The killer is so out of his mind he is barely human.

hmmmm....well, it isn't the greatest movie, and doesn't match the original.....but Exorcist III really terrified me, especially that scene where the nurse gets it. Also, the opening segment of When a Stranger Calls Back is pretty nerve-wracking.

Since when does "you hating it" make it terrible film?

Indeed, the film is about as far from terrible as possible. Its one of my top five favorite films of all time, and is easily the best slasher ever made.

Gotta agree on Cujo and Ash`s comments. Black Christmas is one of my favourites and one of the scariest films i`ve seen, largely due to atmosphere and those phone calls.

    The Shining......(Stanley Kubrick's version).
Perhaps the only film that freaks me out from beginning to end.
Scarecrows and Black Christmas would be close behind.

The phone calls just made me laugh.. only thing the movie had going for it was John Saxon who is cool, but the rest of the movie was just terrible for me.
