One of the few Margheriti films I have yet to see. I have been in a big Giallo Film mood lately and will have to order this one.

If anyone gets this please post about the quality, as I'd like to see the film but don't want to drop $30 on a shitty transfer.

As I wrote in another thread here in Horrordvd land....

Schoolgirl Killer - X Rated Kult dvd Region 2 PAL

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, here is a mini review of the giallo by director Antonio Margheriti...

This giallo takes place at an all girl, private school. The death scenes are not harsh at all. The most violent is with a sickle and the execution is barely exposed. Most of the others are along the strangulation lines. The somewhat vivid scenery, mainly dealing with the school and its surroundings, is rather pleasant and atypical even in comparison to other Italian made giallos. The music sounds like a more subtle, yet more authentic version of the kind of music used in the Ausin Powers films to reflect that era.

This film is widescreen with solid picture quality. Also, it is English subs only which is my main issue. The reason is because there is a decent amount of dialogue going on in this film making the subtitle situation a bit of a chore.

Overall, an above average giallo and a good release. Nice scenery, although, it not on par with Bava's Blood and Black Lace. The killings are nowhere near as violent as Argento's films from that period. A film to put on your shopping B list unless you are rich or simply a Giallo enthusiast.

Resurrecting this thread. So I gather that the subs on this one are difficult to follow? Are they placed well with the film itself? Also,How is the soundtrack to this? The image quality looks good enough from the screan caps.I have has this one on my wish list for way to long now but need to make a decision before my next big Giallo order from xploited.

Ha!I haven't even bought it yet!
Mainly because it's a bit on the expensive side and I have mixed feelings about this one (after reading some more reviews).Sure I need it in my collection but since other companies keep releasing great stuff this one I completely forgot about.
Jimbo,I think we can trust de rossi's opinion on this one :).
What other Gialli are you planning to buy?Need advice?

Well,I have region 1 pretty much covered. So I was looking to throw Tony over at xploited some business as DVD Empire has sucked up a load of money from me the past 2 months.
I am looking to get possibly :
    Black Belly of the Tarantula
    Door into Darkness
    Death carries a cane
Perfume of a lady in black
    School girl killer
Just stuff that has yet to reach R1.

    I really enjoyed this one.Great DVD.You won't be disappointed.

    Door into Darkness
Nice set and if you're interested in Argento and enjoyed Cozzi's Killer must Kill Again you need it.Not many murders since it was made for TV but an interesting piece of Italian movie history.Perhaps only for completists?
    Watch it in B&W.

    Death carries a cane
I haven't seen this one and frankly all reviews I read about it were pretty negative.Mainly because the image quality sucks but also the movie seems to be mediocre.Still if it were cheap I'd buy it.
    Here's a review:

If you're still interested then try to get the double disc(!).

Perfume of a lady in black
Get it.I won't tell you more,it's essential. Not really a Giallo and nothing really supernatural either. But it's a great film and I just love Mimsy! She's great here.

    School girl killer
As you know, haven't seen it.But I'll put it on my "to buy next" list.

    Jimbo:

Black Belly of the Tarantula: Excellent movie and disc, highly recommended!
Death carries a cane: I liked it, not the best disc but not the worst either.
Perfume of a lady in black: Very good movie, more horror than gillo though!
School girl killer: In the vein of Blood and Black Lace, one of X-Rateds best discs.
