    Selma (2014)
    Directed by Ava DuVernay
This film chronicles Martin Luther King's campaign to secure equal voting rights via an epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965. The film is well enough acted and made but it is no Malcolm X. A story so rich could have used a more interesting film maker to bring it to life. As it is it feels like a television movie with a bigger budget. Also much has been made of the lead performance by David Oyelowo but I did not feel much connection from him, he was competent and did a good imitation of Kings voice but I did not think it was that great of a performance.

I'm on the fence about seeing this one. It's no surprise it received a best picture nod at the Oscars since the Academy has a huge hard on for historical based bio-dramas.

well there have been some great civil rights and racially charged historical films, this was not one of them though.
