Hidden Fortress is a real good one, but I put it a notch below Seven Samurai or Throne of Blood. Of course, that still means it's miles above almost any other movie made.

It's the story of a samurai trying to escort a princess through enemy territory, accompanied by two lowly peasants. The story is told from the peasants' point of view. It's acknowledged as an influence on Lucas and Star Wars, but only in that the peasants are somewhat represented by R2D2 and C3P0. Other than that, the comparisons are pretty weak. The Hidden Fortress should be praised on it's own achievements. Very entertaining film.

Sanjuro is a sort-of sequel to Yojimbo, but with a more comedic tone. John Belushi's samurai character is somewhat based on Toshiro Mifune in Sanjuro. Not quite up there with Yojimbo, Seven Samurai, Rashomon, or Throne of Blood though...
