Anyone else preorder Eaten Alive from Amazon? If so, has it shipped? I preordered but the order has not even processed. I go onto amazon's site and see it's for sale, in stock, though being sold from another party through Amazon.

I skimmed through the limited slipcover blu/cd edition of Eaten Alive just a little while ago. Was very pleased. Anyone familiar with this film's various past vhd,ld,dvd releases, it is a stellar release! And the audio (which always felt off before in every version) sounded brilliant and more legitimate than ever through headphones (for Eaten Alive!, that is)
Not the clone of grindhouse film's packaging that I was expecting. A thin o-card slid over a standard thickness, 2-disc case in black. It does look good and leaves a smaller footprint than Ferox on the shelf. As it should.

I need to hurry and the limited edition of "Eaten Alive!". I love the music. I especially love the opening credits sequence where Janet Agren is
walking around vintage Times Square. Love seeing the theaters and the other now-gone spots like Howard Johnson's sparkling signage.
There is a theater marquee which has "Open Soon" or something akin. I wonder if that was the former Forum about to re-open as Movieland?
    Or is it Embassy 5...o_O

I love the slipcase edition of Eaten Alive! with the soundtrack CD but the slip cover is insanely tight and as much as I hate to tuck the slip away I think I might because it seems like I'll eventually wind up damaging it taking the case out. Anyone else get one like this? I've had a few slips that were a bit snug before but this one barely fits.

Would you really watch it enough for that to be an issue? At the same time I get what you mean if it is really tight. I had that issue with a steelbook but it was with the disc holder. It was so tight I honestly thought the disc was going to snap every time I took it out.

Not sure how much I'll watch this one but I've removed it twice so far and both times I was worried about ripping it trying to get the case out. Will probably just leave it off.

When Severin announced this, my first thought was 'oh, another classic I can cross off the list.' And The Changeling is a classic, but one of those I recognise as a legitimately good movie without really accepting as a personal favourite. I'm in no hurry to upgrade.

On the other hand, I watched Eaten Alive! a couple of weeks ago and had loads of fun with it. For all the mean-spirited gore and objectionable animal scenes (thankfully not as bad as Cannibal Ferox), it's also well-paced and has a sense of humour to it - partly because it depicts gender in a way that seems so outdated now (the heroine is completely useless and does nothing but complain the entire time). I'm really into grindhouse horror these days, and one title I'm really looking forward to is Don't Go Near the Park, which Severin strongly hinted at a while back. I'm not expecting a masterpiece, but it's regional horror and a video nasty, so I'll bite.

There's a blizzard here right now and I'm completely snowed in, so I decided to start my morning with Severin's Eaten Alive disc. Yeesh, this one was definitely way too gross for me. Supposedly all the animal violence is recycled from other movies, but while most of these movies have maybe two sequences of animal violence, this one felt like it had one every ten minutes. Also got way too rapey (snake venom dildo much?). I don't know, maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a cannibal film this morning. Although I was mildly amused by Robert Kerman and Janet Agren's whole Romancing The Stone shtick.

I might have blinked and missed something, but what happened to Me Me Lai's character? It showed her and Diana being captured, but then she pretty much disappeared and the focus is entirely on Diana.

Also, I had to laugh at the Lenzi interview. He seems really appalled by the fact that Kerman was a porn star.

One last thing. The opening scene of this movie, where a man is assassinated at Niagara Falls by a guy with a blow dart, really jogged something in my brain. At first I thought I had seen this movie before, but as the movie continued, I definitely hadn't. Is there another movie with this same scene? I'm pretty sure the movie I'm thinking of is 1979's Search And Destroy, but I'm not sure.

Me Me Lai's character gets offed, but it's shown with footage culled from Last Cannibal World where her character gets killed too

Eaten Alive is pure trash but I liked it very much, though I really would have liked it not having all that animal violence
