Yeah that is a rather perplexing line-up, especially if you were hoping for some vintage exploitation and horror. Only Castle of the Creeping Flesh really qualifies, and I'm just not feeling that one. I remember really not caring for Plague Town despite wanting to.

I was so hoping that Severin would finally be getting around to Don't Go Near the Park, which I've never seen - and don't necessarily expect to be good - but really want.

Don't go Near the Park is a pretty bad film (and not in a good way) but it does have an extremely young Linnea Quigley doing full nudity in it. Admittedly it's been many years since I watched my DVD but I remember it being pretty cheesy. Perhaps this poster will give you an idea of the quality of the film. :D

It's a pretty unexciting lineup. I already have the German Subkultur release of Castle of the Creeping Flesh... and honestly it's not that good of a movie to begin with, so that's an easy pass. I'm sure Severin's encoding won't be nearly as good anyway.

The Attic Expeditions is pretty good, but it depends on what their price will be — so I may just wait and get the standard release later on. The only other one I'm really interested in is Tales of the Uncanny as I love anthology films.

I'm going from the Halfway subscriber to Yearly subscriber with VS this time around... so no big sale order from Severin that's for sure. o_O

Thanks. I still want to see it, though - more so than any of the titles in that line-up. Don’t Go Near the Park is after all a Video Nasty, which adds the exploitation appeal, and the trailer looks fun:

It's been years since I've watched my old Dark Sky dvd of this but I remember liking it plus it's on the Video Nasty list like you said and I like to have all of those if I can.

Is anyone having trouble accessing Severin's site or shop today?

It says you need a password.

Pretty sure Severin said on Facebook that their site would be down X number of days before their sale starts.

I thought my new internets securities was preventing me from going on their site. It's been that way for me for a few weeks. Relieved I'm not the only one. I'm thinking of checking out their
    Thursday Sale.

I believe they posted a while back that when it requires a password, that's for their employees to access the site when it's down.

What’s the verdict on Plague Town? The trailer has me pretty intrigued, but when I go read the reviews they are very split. People either absolutely hate it, or think it’s better than average. Judging by the trailer I feel like I would enjoy it. Also, the older release from 2009 is going for like five bucks on eBay and Amazon.

I have the old blu-ray and thought it was fine, but have never had any desire to go back to it. Ideally, I'd say watch it on a streaming service.

Thanks - Is this new Blu ray release supposed to be a new transfer?

I was planning on taking advantage of the sale, but the items I want most (Patric Still Lives, Cruel Jaws, and the Lenzi/Baker set) aren't included. So I ended up passing entirely. I'll just wait and hopefully they'll still be available when they have another sale.

I actually thought the shopping and checkout experience was a vast improvement over past Black Friday / Halfway sales. I was able to get in and out without any hiccups.

The sale prices this time around seem to be $2-3 higher per title than they were at the halfway sale.

Since spent my wad on the VS sale I only grabbed three things from the Severin sale, which were also the only three I was interested in anyway.

    The Jess Franco Tree Topper
Tales of the Uncanny LE Blu-ray
Castle of the Creeping Flesh LE Blu-ray

One thing to note for those who are on the fence about any of the Severin BF titles which is something I didn't realize until I read the fine print on the site is the majority of the eight BF titles are in editions that are EXCLUSIVE to the BF sale - so if you want some of these with the added LE perks (some of them have exclusive bonus discs/features) you can only grab them this weekend during the sale.

I was looking at the tree topper too but just couldn't pull the trigger.
