It sounds like something I would enjoy. I agree about the need for gimmicks. I want in your face body parts (severed and nude) and all sorts of fluids flying at my face.

I was hoping this thread was about a possible releasing of Jaws 3 in 3-D cause that would be cool.

It seems like they're shooting for a PG-13 rating, so this is basically already a failure in my book. Not only that, but David Ellis really dropped the ball with Snakes on a Plane, a movie that should've been hilarious but instead turned out dull.

They always shoot for a pg-13 rating that way they can get more butts in the seats & then they put out an unrated version so you'll buy the dvd/blu-ray.

was looking forward to this but PG-13 means a no way from me, a killer shark flick with no killings what a fantastic idea!!! will watch on dvd/blu ray if unrated, but only unrated.

Still thinking PG-13 after Snakes got re-rated, after the blast taht was Piranha 3D, fucking retarded. No chance, not even sure I care about unrated. The re-shot R-rated stuff for Snakes sticks out like 50 ounces of silicone compared to the rest and nearly kills the whole thing for me. This doesn't have half the hype or Sam Jackson, bad idea!

Now seeing the trailer. Looks like they were definitely influenced by the new Piranha movie.

    I would check it out.

Huh? I didn't get a raunchy vibe from the trailer at all. Looks like a teenybopper horror film all the way. :sleepy:

Not interested. Piranha 3D had Alexander Aja behind the camera on it. This looks like Piranha 3D-lite but with sharks.

So I just saw the trailer on TV that shows it is a PG-13 movie (Just like Apollo 18). I posted in the annoying thread about how much I hate the move to PG-13 (I did like Insidious). This had planned on seeing this in theaters, but will pass now. I cannot stomach sitting next to annoying kids and trying to watch a movie. The thing I enjoyed most about Piranha was the over the top gore and nudity. I guess this will be missing from Shark Night as will most of the fun.

Little chance of that with a PG-13 rating- not sure if I want to check this one out or not

Generally I really like the freshness and visual energy that David Ellis brings to his films (Homeward Bound 2 was amazing! ;)) so I won't write this one off just yet, even if the PG-13 rating does seem troubling. He seemed to know how to handle his audience when it came to 3D with The Final Destination. It's been awhile since a good big budget shark attack movie too, so please, Gods, let this be good.

Re-watching the trailer just pissed me off me more. They even hint at the all the nudity you aren't going to see, like every fucking PG-13 film in the last 10 years, with girls taking off their shirts but only showing bare backs. Ohhh, bare back, that sexy and dirty! Then the gore will trimmed around at best, probably cut out completely. They can't swear so dialogue will suffer and be unrealistic...

PG-13 is the work of the devil himself, sent to turn what could be fun flicks into stupid unbearable ones, and this looks to be among the later. I'd be there opening night if this were rated R, now I'm waiting for library BD. What sucks even worse is I love shark movies, no matter how bad. I still spin Deep Blue Sea at least once a year!

The trailer looked promising, but the PG-13 pretty much kills it for me too.

It could work. I enjoyed Anaconda, for example, and that is a PG-13 creature feature.

Looks like dumb fun, I'm sold.

I agree, it might be much fun. I'm just not sure I want to pay 3D theater prices to watch it, more a rental for me probably.
