Shaun of Dead gets my vote. It actually made slow zombies interesting again and it had some pretty sad moments in there that elevate it beyond just a good time.

Zombieland. I remember seeing SOTD and being severly disappointed, much like Hot Fuzz, it had some funny moments but it just seemed the best moments were in the trailer and the rest was just average at best. At least Zombieland was fun and entertaining, although Jesse Eisenberg's one trick pony character basically the same one I've seen him play in everything gets old.

I saw Zombieland yesterday. Wasn't my choice, but hey, I wasn't paying this time. Not a fan of either movie actually. Shaun of the Dead had more entertainment value. The only part of Zombieland I enjoyed was a certain celebrity cameo. Horror comedies in general are not my thing. Young Frankenstein is easily the best horror comedy ever made, though Return of the Living Dead and Evil Dead II are also very worthy in their own right.

Shaun of the Dead is probably the better made film with more to it, but I think I liked Zombieland more. It just moved at a faster pace and was more fun all around. I definitely laughed a lot more during it. So I gave my vote to Zombieland. And yes, Woody owned in this film!

Zombieland, though I wasn't crazy about either.

I actually just watched Shaun for the first time. I often skip over particular movies only to revisit them years later and regretting the skip; no such regrets with Shaun. Just didn't do anything for me.

Voted for SOTD. Zombieland was fun but Shaun is funnier.

I purchased Zombieland last week on Blu Ray and was nervous it was not going to hold up with repeat viewings like SOTD. But I have to say I think I enjoyed it more on the second viewing. But overall Shaun is the better film. More character development, cleaver and more subtle humor which I prefer, and there was a lot more at stake with Shaun then with Zombieland. Never at any point did I think any of the four main characters were going to bit the dust. With Shaun it was always a looming fact, you knew not everyone was making it out alive and that really added to the tension and, for me at least, makes it more "worthy" of the horror/comedy title.

That's funny you say that. After picking up the Zombieland blu-ray, my wife and I couldn't wait to see it again. We loved it the first time in the theater, but it just didn't have the same impact. I like Shawn of the Dead more and more after repeat viewings.

While i thought Zombieland was the funniest movie of 2009 it just isn't as good as SotD IMO.

I've watched Shaun at least twenty times and love it every time I watch it. It gets my vote easily. And I don't agree that you have to have seen NotLD to enjoy Shaun. My mum loves it too and has never seen NotLD...actually alot of the people I know who enjoyed Shaun have never seen NotLD.

Zombieland was an entertaining movie, but I just don't see it making it to 20 viewings. Especially not in the space of 5-6 years. Fun flick though.

SOTD is less effective in the US probably cause you guys dont see too many English Soap Operas and TV dramas and as such dont 'get' the nuances and pathos and subtle cultural references..

In Australia, SOTD was wayyyyy more successful.

I'm going with Zombieland for now, but only because it's fresher in my mind. Long term, I think Shaun of the Dead is better, but I'm curious to see how Zombieland holds up under repeated viewings.

While I am not in love with Shaun as I sometimes think I should be, Zombieland was as...clever. It was a riot, though, and I had a great time watching it, but I don't recall it as well as I do Shaun.

Wow, i finally caught Zombieland tonight on DVD and i really did not enjoy it much at all. Sure there were clever bits......... "god love rednecks" etc and Cameo, but overall i found it very predictable and quite dull.

And also irritating. They kept walking around places without any guns!

And in a country of 400-500 million??? where were all the zombies?

Tough one - both films I found very entertaining, but I'm going to give it to Zombieland.

I love the whole Bill Murray part -that really made the movie.

I enjoyed Zombieland, but SOTD wins hands down for me.

Zombieland was awesome. Shaun Of The Dead did not hold my attention, found it pretty dull actually.
