There is a obscure George Kennedy movie called ZIGZAG from 1971 that was a shocker of a ending.

Don't Look Now really shocked me when I first saw it. Excellent ending. I'll throw in Mother's Day for an unexpected ending, even if it was pure frommage.

Call me stupid ..... but I loved Frailty's ending. It did suprise me and was quite good. Others that impressed were:

    - The Others (yeah, i didn't see it coming until half way though the movie, but it was still good)

    - NOTLD (totally didn't see that one coming).

    - 6th Sense (yeah, good old gullable me)

    - Butterfly Effect (sure it's not really horror, but the Dir Cut ending was most excellent)

    - Dead and Burried (who woulda thought?)

And yeah, I thought Sleepaway Camps ending was lame. If anything I felt ripped off. But yeah, that's just my opinion.

    HALLOWEEN (in its day...now it's a cliche)
    BLACK CHRISTMAS
AMERICAN GOTHIC (is she or isn't she?)
    MY BLOODY VALENTINE
THE SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE (silly, funny, gory spoof...until the deadly serious climax)
THE UNSEEN (underrated dark horse terror classic)

    Thought of another...

The Wizard of Gore. If that ain't one fucked up ending, I don't know what is.

Why didn't I think of that one? Now that you mention it, that is the clear winner and the most shocking of endings. Good call.

I just finished watching this for the first time, and while I had a sneaking suspicion what would happen
(the Survival Kit pretty much gives it away on the back of the box)
, I was still pretty damn freaked out by it.

A great blind buy, and instantly one of my all-time favourite movies! I just hope parts 2 & 3 don't let me down too much.

The end was also ruined for me, because mostly of this habit of mine to look through the spoilers tag even when I haven't seen the movie... But otherwise it would have been one of the shocking end I've seen... It still is. It was also a blind buy for me too, and I loved part 2 (even if it's not the same kind of movie), but i was disappointed by part 3...

I really need to see A Tale of Two Sisters now!
    Anyway - I would say:
Black Christmas (one of my favorite endings)
    The House With Laughing Windows
Sleepaway Camp (although the ending was ruined for me)
    April Fool's Day
    Ringu
Les Diaboliques (for it's time anyway)
    Freaks
I also liked the very ending of Demons

Audition got me into Nipponese horror. Helluva ending there! I thought that movie was very Hitchcock.
I saw Ringu before I'd heard anything about an American version. When she came through the tv I almost flipped over the back of the couch!!! (It helps when the version you see is a lousy print that looks like it could be from vhs!)

It's your own damn fault! It played in San Diego twice...first at the San Diego Asian Film Festival in October of '04, then for a week at the Ken in December.

if you watch the 2 sequels to SC expecting more like the first movie, then you'll probably be disappointed. if you're looking for cheese, then you'll probably like them.
