Should I avoid it (I'm assuming it's a bootleg)? I'm thinking of getting it.
Why are you assuming it's a bootleg?
There is a legitimate release of Oldboy, it's 2-disc, Region 3. Easily available at many of the import DVD sellers
Exactly. Get it today!
http://www.xploitedcinema.com/dvds/dvds.asp?title=3210 great service here! Tony rules!!
I assumed because the one I saw was region 0.
looks like a bootleg. I have the legit region 3, the letters are gold and has nothing on the cover but his face and 'oldboy', no 'dvd' etc.
Region 0 almost always = bootleg. Good eye.
Here's where I got mine. Not the cheapest guy in town, but I've bought a lot of stuff from him in the past, and he usually gives me a good discount
Check out the "fullhousedvd" store on Ebay. I've bought quite a few DVD's from this guy because he has good prices, inexpensive shipping, and has never sent me a boot. He's got a couple copies of Oldboy listed. They're both legit region 3, 2-disc sets.
I've really wanted to grab this, but my region free player has been acting up. I guess I'll wait for the reviews on the Tartan region 1 release (March 25).
That ebay seller...fullhousedvd... pretty good! I've bought from him a few many times now. Legit stuff for sure.
Starmax just released (this week) a new remastered version
go for the "oldboy : final edition" from koreandvds.com dvdfromkorea.com or cd-wow.com (£12.99 with free worldwide postage)... thats the same remaster as in the "ultimate edition" tin out recently and improves on the original disc (which is OOP)... see a comparison at dvdbeaver.com too for pics which show the improvements...
