It was directed by Claudio Fragasso. He worked with Bruno Mattei on other films such as Zombi 3 and Hell of the Living Dead.

Wasn't The Church also known as Demons 3?

Yea, it was. I read that Dario originally intended it to be Demons 3, but the film that Soavi ended up making was so different from the Demons films that they decided to call it something else. That could be incorrect though.

The Demons films are almost as bad as the Zombie films as far as other directors jumping on the bandwagon and calling their film Demons part whatever. There was The Church (demons 3), The Ogre (also Demons 3), Umberto Lenzi's Black Demons (called Demons 4 I think, don't quote me) Demons 5 directed by Lamberto, I don't know anything about that movie.

Bottom line is their pretty much all Italian gore films, so their all more than welcome in my DVD collection, bring em all on and call em whatever you like, just release them OAR and Uncut.

    crank

Oh yea, and give em a cool cover.

I don't remember the website I was on last year, but it listed Demons up to part 7. I loved 1 and 2 with 1 being my favorite horror movie of all time. I am waiting to see The Ogre even though I have heard it has nothing to do with the first two.

I'd pass on the Ogre, dude. It's like a 90 minute episode of Goosebumbs. A real snoozefest. Just my opinion:cool:

  9. Afterdeath sounds darn intriuging... Anybody seen it? Opinions?

Oh, and, yeah. Don't get too psyched for Ogre (yawnaroonee).

    After death

I had the Dutch tape years ago and it's not a very good movie
relly bad actors but as far as I can recall some decent "demon gore"

I'm a sucker for director collections (I have little dividers for my favorites in my DVD collection), so I'm sure I'll get them all, if for no other reason than to own a little piece of eruohorror history.

    Hello,

All you posted is true and you guys actually forgot two other titles in that same package.

But the big one is Zombie 3 from Fulci and After Death I really think is pretty good. The gore factor is awesome but everyone has their own tastes.

But OK I will admit we picked Ogre becuase of the name Demons which is hot.

As for the other two films Violence in a Woman's Prison and Hitcher in the Dark.

...I remember I liked THE OGRE when I first saw it. FOund it pretty atmospheric and thought it was an interesting move from Lamberto Bava to shoot something low on gore and heavy on the "eerie" factor. Of course, that was 8 years ago...

More Gemser, definitely a good thing.

Great to see more Lenzi films on dvd also.

it would be cool to also include the Emanuelle alternate title(Emmanuelle in Hell ) on the cover art for all of us Em(m)anuelle Fans!
