WELL PUT. I feel the same way about this series and I'm just insanely happy that they're going for one last hurrah while they can. I love the series and the characters enough that I'm probably going to be pretty forgiving if they had to make this happen on a shoestring, at least it's happening! By the way, apparently Phantasm V is "trending" on twitter right now. I'm no twatter but I believe that means it's a fairly popular subject at the moment...

I'm late to the party but ...:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Good or bad, it will be fun to enter back into the Phantasm world. I hope after this one, they respectfully reboot the series as the mythology is too good to not go back to.

After seeing the clip, I'm much more hopeful than I was before. When I heard it was being shot in the home of one of the stars, I immediately thought of THE CORPSE GRINDERS 2 and fell into despair.

I'm pretty sure they were still working on effects and post production last time news came up. I assume it'll pop up next year hopefully in a box set with the other films. Apparently Anchor Bay no linger owns the rights to the Phantasm films so hopefully a company like Scream Factory can pick them up.

Sounds like a plan to me. I still have all four on DVD, haven’t upgraded any to BD yet. I was tempted with P2 from Scream but with all of the franchises getting box sets in the last year or so I held off. I’m super excited for P5, but I’m going to try and hold out for the inevitable box set that’s coming. It’s coming right? Please tell me it’s coming…please.

I've been hoping Phantasm was the title behind the postponed Halloween announcements for either Synapse's or Scream Factory's. Coscarelli seemed to be fielding offers as of a couple months ago.

I hope it's coming. I'm certainly hanging out for it to be announced at some stage.
Does he own the rights to all his films from the series now or just 1, 3, 4 and 5?

I think his distribution rights are currently limited to the original film and III - V, so a box set might only be possible if he licensed the remaining films to Scream Factory, since they licensed II from Universal.

Hopefully whoever gets the rights can strike a deal with Universal then. I'm assuming Scream Factory's rights to part 2 are fairly limited so a re-release from another company (assuming another company gets the other films rights) may not be out of the question.

Looks like shit, imho, with cheap CGI a la The Asylum. Hmm :(

Oh come on  CGI looks far, far, FAR better than anything the asylum has to offer.

    Much as I'm excited,
    the sentinel laser-slicing that building
    totally out of place.

Considering the tall man wants total world domination the giant sphere isn't really out of place.

Plus since this is the final film in the franchise it needs to end on a grand scale.

Guarantee Coscarelli would've done something like that back in the day if he had the money.
