I didn't get the french disc , i got the german steelbook, but the image shown on dvd compare was taken from the french disc so I guessed. Seems a lot clearer and the dark scenes look good so .... on the german disc I mean . Looked a little different in color timing and such on the few scenes they had there. And the german disc is dual layer full while the lion gate is a single layer so

but there is a place called uncut movies ( I suspect a bootleg company) found a link on imdb and the price was more than I paid for the steelbook and a 35 minute documentary wasn't included but it was on the german release

I can confirm that the German steelbook is the best looking print of the film. I compared them side by side and the German prints much better looking.

The above pictures are actually from the old French disc, which is definitely inferior. Here are some shots from the German DVD. See for yourself...

I'd love to grab the German Steelbook. It's a damn shame that its so difficult to obtain at a decent price.

I agree. If anyone knows some more reasonably priced sites please fill us in. I don't want to pay $40 dollars for it.

They pop up on Ebay every now and then...check there (none as of right now though)...and they usually go for about £17.99...which is about $25 plus like 4 bucks shipping.

As much as I love this movie I think this is way too high for me to pay.

Man, why didn't Lionsgate do a better job of this? If R2 has a decent presentation, then obviously LG should. >.>

What I REALLY don't understand is...why the fuck is THIS movie, of all horror movies, STILL banned in Germany? It doesn't make any sense.

If I find one for that price then I'll get it. Guess I just have to wait for a copy to show up.

That's what I paid for mine anyway...from some guy in Germany. I didn't know Slaughter High was banned in Germany,... I guess now I know why he specifically stated in his item description that he couldn't ship to Germany. I thought that was odd being the guy was from Germany himself...now I know.

Wow, those screen grabs of the German disc look fantastic. Why couldn't we get this domestically? :( I'm also hoping for a good Chopping Mall dvd one day..but that may never happen.

It's pretty dumb that it's banned yet much more violent films like H2 are getting 2 disc special editions.

H2 in Germany is not as violent as you might think. Four scenes had to be cut for the DVD release :eek2:

The FSK, the German Motion Picture rating system organisation responsible for banning movies or recommending cuts to distributors so their movies can get the approval rating, are truly screwed.
For example the Theatrical version of Jennifer's Body got an "18" rating. The extended unrated version was rated "16".
John Carpenter's The Thing was finally un-banned this year after being indexed for over 20 years. The untouched Theatrical version now sports a kid-friendly "16" rating.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine was cut for the Theatrical run, rated "16". The very same version without cuts was also rated "16" for the DVD release.

    Go figure

They seem to be a bit over-the-top. Why any of those films should be cut or banned is beyond me.

    So are you from Germany?

    It's a steelbook with a lenticular cover, 2,35:1 (anamorph / 16:9). Extras: Trailers + convention footage. Audio: German 5.1 + 2.0, English 2.0.

I haven't really paid much attention to Halloween 2 on dvd seeing as most of the releases of it seem a little poor. Is this better than the region 1 dvd or the same (aside from the fancy packaging)?
