    Hi Killit, and all others,

i see you are a big Fans of that Movie. So am i :)
My Name is Udo from Germany. so forgive me my bad English

and i am member of the DVD Inside Forum, and so they called me "Mister Antropophagus" LOL !!

First of all i am in Contact with Marcello Giombini, the Composer of the Original Soundtrack of that Movie.

So i hoped to get on the Mastertapes of the Music for an Release, unfortunately M. Giombini, doesn`t know something. But i have encoded and remastered the Maintheme of "Antropophagus" as mp3, and sent it to him. He was very pleased .
The Main Theme is called "Padre Snaturato", he told me.
If you are interessted in this little tune, mail me at d-udo@t-online.de

But i will check the contact to "Nazional Music, Milano" (Music Publisher) again. unfortunately they don`t speak english
I have also contact with George Eastman (Luigi Montefiori) for a little Interview.

So here some facts i researched about "our" Movie.

The Film was NOT shot on a greece island, except some scenes in Athens.
In Fact most of the Film was shot location in the City of Sperlonga and Formia on the Latin Coast. (check http://www.Google.com with Sperlonga and pictures and you see the results LOL),
also at the ELIOS Studios Rome and at some Catacombs near Rome.
But where the Big Mansion is , i haven`t figured out yet :( !!

MGM has the rights on that Movie, as John Sirabella of "Shriek Show" confirmed!
So i do also write an E-Mail to MGM to suggest a release.

Heres is (for Fun) a little Draft for an fictional MGM Cover !!

so i hope you all like it

    greetings from Germany
    yours sincerily
    Udo

After a Question of myself to "Shriek Show" here is the reply of John Sirabella:

"I am sorry but while we have tried for two years to get this film, it seems MGM has the final word."

No offense or anything, but I've never been able to get into this film. I've made numerous attempts over the years, it is just slow as hell and puts me to sleep. The fetus and intestines scenes were OK, but certainly not worth sitting through the whole thing again. I like the remake better, sadly.

    If I understand it...

MGM (SUPPOSEDLY) has elements in the vaults-that doesn't mean they still have the rights to it though. As deals expire, they don't seem to be too keen on returning elements....
What would have to happen would be the real owners (I have no idea who) would have to present documentation to get at those elements if they chose too.
I did a little legwork on this title about a year and a half ago...there is that version released as Grim Reaper by Digital Media. After chatting up the guy who "owns" the rights to that edition (his company escapes me all this time later), it seems he was less than interested in selling it off-as GR did fairly well. Of course, if he truly has US distribution rights to the film, I guess he could present his documentation to the vault maesters at MGM. The best person to ask on something like this is Don May, who has some genuine experience dealing with MGM and has found some VERY interesting things there.
One thing for sure, Anthropophagus is a QUEST for some brave (and willing to spend good $$) to hunt down. I'd love to see it happen...
