So here is a Statement of Don May Jr. of "Synapse Films" i recieved today via E-Mail.

"I do believe that MGM does indeed own the film. I have not heard
anything else. It sure would be nice if we were able to do it, but I
    doubt that will happen.

    Kindest Regards,

    Don May, Jr.
    President, Synapse Films

The only thing I can suggest is that we all wait and pray to the metal gods  that we will some day have a nice uncut version of this fine film on dvd. Oh yeah, Anthro 2 would be nice as well. ;) Thanks for posting the cool pics, Udo. :glasses:

  6. uh.... guys...

It's uncut, region 0, PAL, widescreen, english & german audio.

    Extras:
2 segments from the Super 8 version of the film (a German print entitled "Man Eater")
Alternate opening sequence (which was used on the American DVD, which cuts out the opening sequence on the beach)
Alternative ending (the same as what’s on the DVD but appears to be Super 8)
    Photo gallery
    Theatrical trailer
    Cast and crew biographies

Just one honest question: Supposedly, how did MGM ever get to this (if they even have the rights?)

    Just curious...

Yeah, I heard that transfer was shit too. I guess I should have been more specific. Let's pray for a nice uncut dvd, with a good transfer and some cool extras...here in the US!:D

    UUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!

forget that Astro Edition. :fire: :fire:

it has an awful quality in picture and sound (at the nightscenes you can`t see anything. The sound is terrible. And they used the
US-version credits and the complete Soundtrack of the US-Version with the replaced Music of "Kingdom of the Spiders")
    :eek1: :eek1:

Why they didn`t used the complete Sound of the English VHS-Print ?? This has the Original Music of Marcello Giombini.
Only the german Version has the Original Music.

Other things are: Plot cuts, different Quality during the Film (Different Prints, edited together)

The only Interesting thing on that DVD is the Original german Theatrical trailer, and the old "Super 8 Version"

so we all here in Germany and at the german DVDInsideForum waiting for an american release of that classic.
That`s why i am so involved in that thing here.

But please. it would be great for the first time for an american release to put the german Version on the DVD and release it as RC0 (Ok i live in Utopia:( )

    Udo

    P.S
does have anyone the english trailer of that movie ?? And where can i find to download it ?? Thanks

A very useful tool if you know how to use it.

Also worth thinking about is the fact that the original ANTHROPOPHAGOUS print was never copyrighted in the US, only THE GRIM REAPER variant. Meaning the original version would be up for grabs from the current rights holders ever since the initial license expired - while the new entity would still be copyrighted on its own (assuming it was renewed).

If you’ll recall, for a long time everyone was swearing up and down that MGM owned DEAD AND BURIED as well. Look how that turned out. Moral? Don't believe everything you read. All the MGM/ANTHRO rumors are all stemming from the same source.

D-udo is right about the Astro DVD, it's shit.

As for your ANTHRO collection, here's something I bet you don't have:

    http://www.geocities.com/bruce100473/amato.jpg

As far as previews go, a trailer for the US release as THE GRIM REAPER can be found adorning several Monterey Video releases, like THE SLASHER IS THE SEX MANIAC. I know a gory British trailer (as ANTROPOPHAGOUS THE BEAST) could be found at the beginning of another pre-cert tape, but I can’t remember what it was off the top of my head.
