As a slasher fan, I've been really looking forward to this one.

It premieres on VOD this Thursday (April 3rd) and I've been counting the days. I've been fixing for a fun, bloody slasher film and I'm hoping this will deliver the goods.

    Anyone else excited for this?

Is it supposed to be a remake? Looks a little too singing and dancing with a hint of I Know What You Screamed Last Urban Legend for me, but I'm sure I'll give it at least a rent.

No, but now that you mention it, there was also a slasher musical named after an '80s slasher a few years back called Don't Go In The Woods (which was mind numbingly awful, by the way).

I picked this up on blu-ray at Best Buy today.

Best Buy has an exclusive bonus disc featuring the director's short film The Legend Of Beaver Dam (another horror musical).

They also seem to have the best price for it. Looks like it's $20+ everywhere else.

I rather enjoyed it! One good jump scare and a few laughs.

I thought it was absolutely terrible. Easily one of the worst films I've seen in months. You could really see the ending plot twist coming from a mile away. And geez, the "musical" crap was way overdone. It seemed like it had a personality disorder on if it wanted to be a pure musical, horror, or comedy.

Did anyone watch the Legend Of Beaver Dam DVD that comes with the blu-ray? I finally watched it last night and LOVED it! It's much better than Stage Fright.

They have a version of it posted on YouTube, but it's edited down to 5 minutes from its 12 minute running time. Definitely seek out the full version if you can.

As for Stage Fright, I enjoyed it when I watched it on VOD, but it didn't hold up on the second viewing. Too much musical theater, not enough slasher. The blu-ray extras were mostly fluff and promotional spots. I would have been interested in seeing a more in-depth behind-the-scenes on this one.

For me this is on top of my list as one of the worst films of the year. With the exception of the opening musical sequence, which is hysterical, the movie falls flat on every level. Terrible acting, poor character development, The corniest serial killer every put to celluloid, and a climax that fails to bring it home. The only positive thing I can say is the fact that they use practical gore effects, which are pretty good, but nothing else really does it for me.

This is exactly why I didn't enjoy this film. In this case.... original Stage Fright wins!! :D

I thought this was a lot of fun. Meatloaf is great as always and I legitimately laughed a few times. It didnt suffer from the pretensiousness that Repo had so Id probably watch this again over that one.
