Paramount has just announced special editions for three of Stephen King's most popular efforts - Cujo, Pet Semetary and The Dead Zone, and Warner has unofficially announced preparations for a special edition of The Shining. Many of King's other films have seen some great special editions already (Carrie, Christine and Creepshow 2, to name a few). Many have not though, so which of the films he's written that hasn't received a special edition do you think deserves one most?

Awesome. I've been waiting for a special edition of The Shining to be released. That and Cujo will be the one's I will be picking up. I have never seen Dead Zone? Is that any good?

I'm also looking forward to the new S.King series coming this June on TNT.

I went with Misery, I loved the book and the movie. One of my favorites from King.

Creepshow got my vote. Wouldn't mind a SE for Sleepwalkers as well.

Maximum Overdrive, especially if they could release it in it's original X cut. Runners-up would be Silver Bullet (I wish Paramount were doing a SE of this one in Pet Sematary's place) and The Mangler.

A special edition for The Night Flier would rule, but it wasn't listed. I hate, hate, hate The Dark Half.

Creepshow would easily be my choice.

Creepshow. Though I do enjoy Creepshow 2, I don't think it's fair that the sequel has an SE and the original doesn't. I'd love a Romero commentary and a documentary on the making of the film.

I also wouldn't mind an SE of Misery. It's one of the best adaptions of King's work (I do like the novel better, however-- it's much more gruesome).

I'd LOVE to see... Creepshow, Silver Bullet, Maximum Overdrive, and IT special editions. I would buy those in an instant, but I voted for Creepshow, being my favorite of the list.

Try the R2 release. It has two commentary tracks, two docs, two trailers, and a photo gallery. Sweeeet! :D

Although I agree with the need for CREEPSHOW and SALEMS' LOT SEs, I would love to have the full version of NEEDFUL THINGS out on DVD. I have never seen it when it's aired on TNT before--mainly because I didn't want to see extra footage that had been edited. I love this movie, though that's probably because it's one of the few I haven't read yet. If they'd release the extended cut in a SE with all the trimmings I'd be one happy fella.

Since Creepshow is clearly going to get most of the love, and definitely deserved, I went ahead with my second choice, Misery. It's even one of his most "respected" adaptations, so I don't see why an R1 SE hasn't seen the light of day yet.

I would like SEs of all but three of these. However, if I had to choose which one to upgrade first, I would go with Silver Bullet.

Many of these already have decent extras. "It" already has a good edition for a TV production - an excellent commentary and some minor additions. The same goes for "Cat's Eye" and "Silver Bullet". "Misery" has even more - two commentaries, featurettes, galleries...

"Dark Half", "Thinner" and "Graveyard Shift" all deserve better releases... but "Creepshow" should get one first, just to complement the existing special edition of its sequel. :) I have the workprint of Creepshow, as well as the behind the scenes documentary, and just the material present there would make for some interesting additions.

Silver Bullett and Creepshow. Those have always been 2 of my favorite King flicks. I'm hoping MGM announces that Misery: SE for R1 pretty damn soon.

I was thinking of Misery first (since it's among the "classiest" of any King adaptation...Kathy Bates won an Academy Award for it), but I had to go with Creepshow as it easily has the best potential for SE status. Commentary from Romero and/or Savini, behind the scenes special effects docs, participation of the many "name" actors who were involved...

Creepshow by a mile, it's disturbing that part 2 has a better dvd (2 better dvds for that matter) than the classic first.

Honorable mentions go to Maximum Overdrive, It, and Apt Pupil.

I had to go with Creepshow as well even though I just bought it for the 2nd time. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if there were a better release. The only others I would care for a special edition of would be The Mangler and Apt Pupil. Misery or Needful Things special editions would be appreciated, but I doubt they could find anything that would prompt me to go out and buy these right away.
I can't wait for the new Pet Semetary and The Dead Zone releases, but I could really give two shits about Cujo although I did like the film. I just don't care to revisit that one again.
