To celebrate the DVD release of The Strangers - vote for your favorite home invasion movie!
Some good picks on this list. I went with FEAR, I've always felt it, and James Foley's career in general, has always been underrated. Great performance by Mawk, a very strong supporting cast, some real shameless edge and that roller coaster scene.
I'd also include UNLAWFUL ENTRY on the list too, solid flick. Canada loves you, Helly, for including DEATH WEEKEND and THE DARK HOURS.
Peckinpah's STRAW DOGS gets my vote, still a disturbing film. Some other good ones here though.
I really like a lot of movies up there (and hate quite a few too), but only one ever made me sleep with the lights on and that was The Strangers last night so it wins my vote.
hard candy , brilliant movie
If I Die Before I Wake, very underrated.
Death Weekend, a very underrated exploitation gem.
This might be my favorite sub genre now that I think of it.
I pick Inside but there are so many great ones on the list. Underrated honorable mention to If I Die Before I Wake (1998).
LOVE Straw Dogs, I went with that.
I seriously considered Straw Dogs as it is a great film.
But my heart said fuck that, David Hess is the man!
House on the Edge of the Park
This really isn't a subgenre I enjoy, but count another vote for Straw Dogs.
How can you not like sadistic home invasion films with a nick name like Satan's Sadists?
I chose my screen name because it stands out in a crowd. Actually I prefer watching monster movies, a ghost story, mad scientists, animals attack pictures, gothic horror, erotic horror, satanic cult movies, slashers over most subgenres of horror. Schlocky grindhouse appeals to me more than gut wrenching grindhouse.
Call me crazy, but I prefer collecting movies that are fun to watch. Some horror films just aren't my cup of tea.
I guess it depends on your definition of fun. I also like the sub genre's you mentioned but there are also times where I find a certain amount of enjoyment with feeling disturbed, depressed and somewhat violated
You don't need horror films for that. Try living in California for a while and you'll have more than your fill!
The House On The Edge Of The Park
House on the Edge of the Park, followed by Straw Dogs and then Fight For Your Life (geez, what a fucked up film).
Last goes to Hard Candy. What a horrid piece of shit.
I won't name what I chose, just offer a few clues...
"Do it to me once more..."
