DARIO ARGENTO’S GIALLO MASTERPIECE FINALLY COMES TO U.S. BLU-RAY ON FEBRUARY 23rd FROM SYNAPSE FILMS

A 3-DISC (BLU-RAY, DVD & CD) LIMITED STEELBOOK™ EDITION OF DARIO ARGENTO’S HORROR CLASSIC! ONLY 3000 UNITS PRODUCED!

Italian terror master Dario Argento elevates the Giallo genre to new heights with 1982’s TENEBRAE, a darkly humorous, futuristic and notoriously grisly horror film many consider to be one of his finest works.

American mystery author Peter Neal (Anthony Franciosa) comes to Italy to promote his newest novel, TENEBRAE. Unfortunately, a razor-wielding serial killer is on the loose, taunting Neal and murdering those around him in gruesome fashion just like the character in his novel. As the mystery surrounding the killings spirals out of control, Neal investigates the crimes on his own, leading to a mind-bending, genre-twisting conclusion that will leave you breathless!

This all-new 1080p high-definition release of TENEBRAE is presented here, for the FIRST TIME EVER, with rare English insert shots never-before-seen on any optical disc release! Starring John Saxon (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET), Daria Nicolodi (Dario Argento’s PHENOMENA) and John Steiner (CALIGULA), this slasher-horror classic also features an amazing music score from Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli and Massimo Morante (formerly of Italian progressive-rock band, Goblin).

    RAZOR-SHARP SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE:
    - All-new Synapse Films supervised color correction and restoration of a 1080p scan from original uncut negative elements, presented in the original aspect ratio of 1.85:1
    - Dual English and Italian language options with newly-translated English subtitle tracks for both
    - Audio commentary track featuring film critic and Argento scholar, Maitland McDonagh
    - Original international trailer
    - Booklet containing liner notes by Derek Botelho, author of THE ARGENTO SYNDROME, with additional technical notes by Vincent Pereira and Don May, Jr.
    - Chapter Selections
    - Collectible Steelbook™ Packaging by Silver Ferox Design

SPECIAL FEATURES EXCLUSIVE TO THE BLU-RAY DISC INCLUDE:
    - Rare high-definition 1080p English sequence insert shots, playable within the film via seamless branching
    - Feature-length in-depth documentary, YELLOW FEVER: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE GIALLO by High Rising Productions, chronicling the giallo film genre from its beginnings as early 20th century crime fiction, to its later influences on the modern slasher film genre. Featuring interviews with Dario Argento, Umberto Lenzi, Luigi Cozzi, Richard Stanley, and more!
    - Original UNSANE (U.S. version of TENEBRAE) end credits sequence
    - Alternate opening credits sequence
    - Japanese SHADOW theatrical trailer

INCLUDES A BONUS COMPACT DISC (19 Tracks) featuring an all-new 2015 remaster of the TENEBRAE motion picture soundtrack, containing additional tracks not included on the original 1982 album.

No, the quote I posted has Don May Jr. specifically stating that it is not a new transfer. He says right there that they "had to do a lot of additional work on it" and I don't see any way of interpreting the "it" in that quote to refer to anything other than the Wild Side transfer. It doesn't matter how much tinkering they did, how different it looks, or what mental gymnastics people want to do in order to say it is a "new transfer", they used a transfer that someone already used if they used the Wild Side transfer and no amount of alteration changes that fact.

It would have been nice for the fans then if they pressed 5000 copies at $30.00 each instead of 3000 at the higher price.

I would think they can sell 5000 of these. Even given the other versions out there.

Seeing as the Demons Steelbooks still aren't sold out, and those were also only 3000 editions, that probably factored into the amount pressed.

I'll wait and see what improvements have been done to the transfer.
The Arrow Steelbook edition, already looks great, so it has to be a major upgrade, if I'm gonna jump at this one.
Also, the Arrow Steelbook uses the original posterart, which looks much better than the crap they used on this.
The extras is also way better on the Arrow disc, as it has interviews with the crew, and also a couple of audio commentarys.
Too bad Synapse didn't get the rights to use all of that stuff instead :(

Glad to know the steelbook looks that good. Mine is still sealed so I am kind of still on the fence about also getting the Synapse version. And yes, the original poster art on the steel canvas looks ridiculously awesome. Same with the Phantom of the Paradise steelbook. Just remarkable.

I actually never noticed the errors, when I watched the Arrow disc.
But I now know about the hand opening the letter, and also the missing leg, still in the Synapse disc, from seeing screencaps.
Do you know where the other errors are?
Since I didn't notice these errors, and I've watched the Arrow disc three times now, I think I can live with them.

They are listed in the booklet that comes with the Synapse along with notes/timestamps of where they were. I don't know if anyone has copied all that yet or not though...but there are dozens of errors listed in the booklet.

I finally broke down and pre-ordered today. This is now my third blu-ray of this title. Thank you Katatonia for pointing out this is a superior version.

After seeing those screen caps I can't justify the price for this. If it gets a normal cheaper release I'll bite, if not the Arrow set looks fine.

Same here, I would be pretty interested to see the list of issues that were corrected though.
