Picked this up from the Synapse table at Horror Hound Weekend. Can't wait to check it out.

Jason25 what kind of chair is that? It looks very uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time. Would my ass fall asleep if I sat on it for a while? Would that chair break if we both sat on it at the same time? Now that I think about it is that even a chair what is it?

It looks like a good beat off chair - helps keep proper posture.

I have to say, not overly impressed. Film was pretty good, loved the score. I thought it was effective.

The transfer is acceptable, especially given the film stock used was probably cheap. Not much detail to the picture and the dark scenes, which are plenty, really are tough to watch. The audio wasn't too hot either. There was a weird muffled sound to it. Hate to be too tough here and I'm sure Synapse did the best they could but I had expected something more than what was delivered.

The film was always really dark/poorly lit. I haven't seen it in over 10 years, and my old VHS was really really dark from my recollection. Still looking forward to the new transfer regardless, and it's uncut form.

The thing I'm most exited about though is seeing the trailer in HD, since the trailer used on the disc was one from my collection I loaned for this release :D.

Yeah, I'm not expecting the greatest Blu transfer ever, but anything will be much better than what we currently have. I don't even think the movie is all that great to be honest. It has it's moments, but as far as other 80's slashers go I would wouldn't rank it very high.

WOW. Someone uploaded a clip from one of the interview segments on the new release, and near the end of it, it shows one of the uncut death scenes (the guy in the stairwell getting bashed repeatedly in the head with the spiked club).

This was one nasty little slasher before the censors got a hold of it!

While I agree that it's not one of the top 25 80s slasher films, I think the strict formula, music, darkness, and downbeat ending make it a fond and much welcomed part of the good area in slasher movies. I consider it with Girls Nite Out, The Prey and Blood Rage to be one of my 'guilty pleasure' slasher movies...though neither are actually bad films.

    I received mine today.

You probably won't have any "loose disc" problems this time, like happened with the Vampire Circus set. They've placed a thick piece of foam in the middle of the case to insure the discs will stay secure in their holders. Kudos to Synapse!

Everything on the Blu-ray disc is 1080p, including the Interviews and both Trailers. The transfer itself probably looks about as good as it's ever going to. This isn't a film that's ever going to shine on any format, but this looks far better than it has since its theatrical release. Also, the main audio, isolated music score and the commentary are all presented in lossless DTS-HD Master Audio.

The DVD contains all of the content that the Blu-ray disc has, in standard definition of course.

Watched my copy from diabolik last night--fun slasher, and considering what they had to work with it looks fine.
