Best release version since The Criterion LD.
So awesome...glad I didn't break and pick up that 2-discer released a couple of years ago.
Same here, and with the Criterion commentary too boot! Sounds like a solid release, assuming no dnr or ee funny stuff.
Yes, and about the only cool thing missing from the Criterion CAV and CLV versions is the music-only Bernard Herrman score.
Its up for pre-order at Amazon for $12.99...get in there before the price spike.
Here is a man...
Not really a fan of giving away the mohawk on the cover and this cut and paste job. Would have preferred any of the classic covers, but we just don't get that kind of thing nowadays.
Any of you guys gonna bite on the blu? being so cheso.I own that two disc edition,ya think its worth it?
I pre-ordered it today. The price is just too good to pass on.
Thumbs down on the cover, but definite thumbs up on the content. Looks like a buy for me.
Cover art aside, looks like a great release.Terrific movie.Wish Deniro would aim a bit more for films like this (or even RONIN and HEAT) instead of doing more FOCKERS movies.Remember when a Deniro film was an EVENT ? I miss those days.
Yeah, totally. One thing I don't get is that with all the notoriety this film has received, you really don't need to sell the sleaze or the mohawk anymore. People already know about it. It's now, more than ever, that the classic one sheet art with a painted Bobby D ominously in front of his taxi would be so effective:
Always loved that art, understated but totally off putting and a fine hint for the madness to come. Don't know why it's never (to my knowledge) been used on any North American home video artwork.
It's never been used because it's too good.
I swear most studios are allergic to original art, esp. when it's effective.
I'm all for creating jobs, but if it means paying someone to make these horrid new photoshop jobs while buring the fine original artwork for home video then I don't support them. Fire the PS monkies and use original posters. Can't get the rights? Hire a fucking painter to make a new iconic piece of artwork!
First review. Tell me this isn't a day one purchase!
Yea...it looks superb. I'm still stunned that the price is still $12.99. I've paid more for shit HD transfers with fewer extras.
Props to Sony for delivering the goods on this one, but I guess it kind of deserves it. Its definitely my most anticipated BD this year...this and Zombi 2.
I just jizzed.
I may have to finally go hi-def.
Pre-ordered this today after reading a couple reviews. Can't argue the price.
There were digital screenings in a number of theaters last week.It played locally but I was tied up.Considered going even though these digital screenings haven't always impressed me.Still,it is a great movie.I was lucky enough to have seen it twice in the theater in 35mm.I'm definitely getting this disc.
Are all blu ray releases in the digibook format? This seem really cheap $12.99
