    Jeepers Creepers (blu)
    Jeepers Creepers 2 (blu)
Night of the Living Dead (1968) (Millennium Edition)
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (blu)

Ive always liked Jeepers Creepers and it looks really nice on blu-ray - the sequal is not as good but I still like it despite its flaws- and it actually looks really nice on blu too.
Night of the Living Dead of course is classic for watching on Halloween - can't go wrong. Halloween 5 I do like but it is where things start declining quality wise in the series- the blu transfer seemed pretty solid to me.

It's Anna Paquin from Trick 'r Treat. I had just finished watching her part of the movie and had to post the pic. Love that part.

I've yet to see the original. A buddy recommended we start with this one, and I so often am the one suggesting that it felt good to take someone else's choice. And it was an effective film! Very gruesome, maybe one vignette too long, but still a fun first-viewing, especially on Halloween.

Next was my pick, Trick 'r Treat (2007)

Goodnight, Halloween! It's been a helluva month, folks. Thanks for all the write-ups and tracking.

Had to work late shift but I was still able to squeeze in two movies.

    [IMG][IMG]

Creature from Black Lake (1976) (DVD) [IMG]

Two 40something students from Chicago come to hick town Louisiana researching Bigfoot activity involving death of a hunter. Townsfolk are tight-lipped and the local sheriff is threatening but the two students are still able to gather enough information. Once settled in the forest things get tense as the students encounter a hairy beast.
One of the better 1970s Bigfoot exploitation flicks with a decent/charming cast, gritty setting, some humor and thrilling moments of Bigfoot carnage.

Halloween: Extended Edition (1978/1981) (DVD) [IMG]

Slasher-Classic expanded with added TV Version footage. Not a definite version by any means but an interesting for sure.

And this concludes my October / Halloween viewing. Like always I had lots of fun.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) 3/10
It has been six years since…blah, blah, blah. Michael Myers kills people again.

This one has a nice holiday vibe, but the film is shit. If they couldn’t afford Danielle Harris than they should wrote her out of the script. And why the fuck did they feel the need to explain Michael Myers? The mystery is what makes him scary. Thorn and the cultists is stupid. And having 120 lb. Paul Rudd beat Michael Myers to death is stupid. Fuck you, Halloween 6.

    Jack-O (1995) 5/10 **
On Halloween, three friends seek an ancient cemetery in the suburb for fun and remove a cross from a tomb, where Jack-O was buried many years ago by the farmer Arthur Kelly. The evil creature is unleashed, kills the trio and seeks the descendants of the Kelly family for revenge.

Jack-O looks like it was made for about 10 cents and the acting is horrendous, but that doesn't keep it from being fun. The conservative couple is funny and I'm always up for a gratuitous Linnea Quigley shower scene. I wish they could have got more from the, then deceased, Cameron Mitchell. I love the idea of him being a horror host, but I would have liked more than just him reading lines from his kitchen table. At least the Jack-O costume was well done.

    Hack-O-Lantern (Halloween Night) (1988) 6/10 **
A kindly old grandfather is actually the leader of a murderous satanic cult which sacrifices its victims on Halloween.

Here's an excellent example of a "so-bad-its-good" film. It's well shot and never boring. Most of the characters comically overact and something WTF happens every few minutes. Some highlights are a rock video that comes out of nowhere and a random guy who begins a standup routine outside a party where the smokers are hanging out. There are also head scratching continuity problems like the actress that gets her ass branded in a satanic ritual no longer has the brand when she's playing a stripper minutes later. Maybe she was playing twins. There is no shortage of gore or nudity as well. HACK-O-LANTERN is good fun and if it was shot on film I'd love to see a proper DVD release. Thanks MP.

I've managed 54 movies thanks to one week vacation. Because of work its impossible for me to do more, so I salute everyone who watched more than I did

I'm already thinking of a new viewing strategy for next year, possibly doing choice decade for an entire month. This will give me an opportunity to dust off DVDs I haven't watched, well, in over a decade.
