Work in progress, but it looks like we have a really heavy season for new horror movies this fall and I thought we might benefit from a schedule of the big horror offerings to look out for. I'll try to keep it updated.

    September 1st:

Jackals (VOD release; on blu-ray October 3rd) - Set in the 1980s, an estranged family hires a cult deprogrammer to take back their teenage son from a murderous cult, but find themselves under siege when the cultists surround their cabin, demanding the boy back.

Little Evil (NetFlix) - In this horror-comedy, a recently married man who wants to bond with his stepson begins to fear that the boy is a demon. From the director of Tucker & Dale Vs Evil.

    September 5th:

American Horror Story: Cult (Season Premiere on FX) - Plot specifics are slim, except that it takes place in Michigan and begins on election night. The 11 episode season will run every Tuesday night through September and October, giving us genre fans a weekly dose of horror for the Halloween season.

Also on blu-ray: A Dark Song, Raw (DVD only), The Spell, American Psycho 2, Supernatural: The Complete Twelfth Season

    September 8th:

It (in theaters) - When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, neighborhood kids band together to square off against Pennywise, an evil clown whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.

Also on VOD: The Limehouse Golem

    September 12th:

The Hatred (on blu-ray) - Sins from the past return to terrorize the present in this shocker from the creators of Halloween. When recent college-grad Regan goes to a familys house to babysit their daughter for the weekend, she invites her three best gal pals along. What starts as a girls getaway becomes a journey into hell, as the young women discover the house is haunted by a dark and violent history involving a Nazi (Andrew Divoff), his daughter, and an ancient artifact that feeds on fear.

Also on blu-ray: It Comes At Night, The Mummy, Phenomena, The Resurrected, The Creep Behind The Camera / The Creeping Terror

Reminder: the new season of American Horror Story premieres tonight on FX.

Also, A Dark Song (IFC Midnight) was added to NetFlix today. I am unable to find it through the NetFlix app right now, but until things get sorted out you can queue it from sites like InstantWatcher. The film was also released on blu-ray today from Scream Factory.

Slightly off topic, but I'd like some expert advise from all y'ah all. I'm planing my Halloween Party and like to show a double feature of the crazier stuff like Frankenhooker or Hausu. As the 6th year I was going with a 6.66 theme so I'd like to show something with Satan having a significant role. Like an actual actor with dialog. Unfortunately I already showed Phantom of the Paradise which would have been perfect. So I'm having a hard time coming up with something. In fact I'm having a hard time in general since a lot of Satanic stuff is like just a witch without much having to that's outrageously SATANIC or "demons" which are mostly just possessing corpses and therefore are just zombies.

    Some films I'm considering:
Vengeance of the Zombies (1973) (Real animal killings, so probably not)
Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988)
    Hellspawn (1993)
    Viy
At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul (although This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse is a little more on point, has a vision of Hell, and may go over better.)
    Night of the Demons (1988)
    Ghoulies
    Demonoid (maybe not zanny enough?)
Dark Angel: The Ascent (actually kinda good, so maybe not)

I'm going to watch Black Roses (1988) and see if that works well.

So I'm thinking of using a wild card: The Devil with Hitler (1942). Satan tries to get Hitler to do a good deed so the job of Ruler of Hell doesn't go to Hitler instead; through the lens of the Three Stooges. It's jaw dropping but not really horror, and a little long at 45 minutes to slip in between movies (I'm already pressed for time as it is). But it's Hitler vs. Satan so that's still a contender in my mind.

Or I may just show this clip and call it good:

I liked where you were going with Night of the Demons. That and the sequel serve for a great double feature!

Hack-O-Lantern might be the perfect choice, depending if your friends have the tolerance for 80s cheese. It's fairly outrageously Satanic and it's set on Halloween. Plus, now there's a gorgeous new blu-ray of it.

Stephen King's It is now in theaters!

Also, trailers added for Gerald's Game and Chiller's Dementia 13 (it looks pretty good!).

Tour dates now available for Victor Crowley: http://ariescope.com/2017/09/06/2017-tour-dates/

PS: Did anyone watch American Horror Story: Cult? Sarah Paulson's house on the show is the Doyle house from Carpenter's Halloween (and the Wallace house plays a prominent role as well)!

Ha, damn I originally wrote that off because I realized it ain't Jack-O with Linnea Quigley. Now I have to watch it.

And I don't tolerate people intolerant of 80's cheese.

With the influx of Coulrophobia, what about Killjoy Goes to Hell? I personally would need to watch the three previous films before even getting to Goes to Hell (and I understand that only this one and 3 are "good" in the series) to be true to myself. But is it worth doing all that for Goes to Hell? I figure it'll probably stand well enough on its own to my friends. Any good at all in a cheesy sense? And good at being Satanic (sounds like there's a trial in Hell, with Satan, so that seems to qualify).
